Hard to know the answer. Colin "Pinetree" Meads (from around where I live) was an All Black from 1957 till 1971, and he played at Lock and was known for putting his body on the line. He is now 71 and looks pretty good, he's often in the media for one thing or another (including deer velvet tablets for joint pain). Pinetree played 133 games as an AB (not including all the club games & provincial games during those years), but since Rugby became a professional sport nearly a dozen years ago the teams play more games a year, but whether individual players will play more per year or have longer careers are unknown.
OK, its done for another 4 years. Full credit to SA. I see that they have now taken over the #1 ranking from the ABs (who held it for a record 40 months) as well as taking home "Bill" (the William Webb Ellis Trophy for those who aren't on a first-name basis with the cup). While the final games were too conservative (read defensive kick-fests) for my taste, the whole spectacle was very nice, France were a wonderful host. Let's hope NZ do as well when the tourney comes here in 2011. Is it this one?
It is nearly time again. Rugby World Cup 2011! Anybody interested? Any predictions? Anybody coming to watch?
Soccer is real football. Rugby league is highly entertaining. Rugby Union is for private school thugs. "World Cup" Ha Ha Ha
