Is there a place to buy a cubby subwoofer/enclosure?

Awesome, your the man! How would you see this work as a production mold?

it's far from a production mold. Gotta peel off all the tape and give it a good skin of filler to smooth it all out (can't have a ratty looking part), then strike the mold from it.

Plus, I still need to make a face for for it. I'll try to grab the volume of the mold to see if there's enough room to run a 10" sub safely. Then strike a mold for it. make a couple pieces and see how well they fit together.

You guys can drill your own holes for wires and such. :D

Looks great man.. I was able to fit a 10w3 from JL in mine, and yours looks a tad bigger. Mine with 500w pounds. Love it.

    Great job.

Not EASILY, but it comes out with a little pulling. I didn't want it to slide easy, but I can get at the battery no problem if I have to.

If it goes into the shop I can hide the wires and remove the sub and they would be non the wiser.

You had enough volume (space) in your enclosure to drive a 10"?

    Tim, just for comparison,

    8" JL 8W3v3-4 is 4.63 in. / 118 mm deep and requires 0.30 ft³ / 8.5 litres sealed enclosure.

    10" 10W3v3-4 is 5.93 in. / 151 mm deep and requires 0.625 ft³ / 17.7 litres enclosure.

10" 10W6v2 is requires 0.625 ft³ / 17.7 litres, but 6.9 in depth... This one is the best.

What is approximate volume of yours? Even if bigger sub fits, if the enclosure is smaller than required, it will not play well.

Also, the front side of the speaker will stick at least 1" out of surface, and it is good if there is a protector similar to this one:

I was pretty happy with this 10" subwoofer (the driver inside is JL 10W6) attached to 5-ch Eclipse amp.

Good job, btw. I am desperate to see the final product :)

I'll know the volume once I fill it up with water and measure what it holds. I'll keep in mind that it will sit 1" proud of the face it mounts to, and adjust accordingly to allow the floor panel to lift to access the lower trunk and spare.

Yes sir. fits nicely and it sounds incredible. I do believe it hits almost as hard as my DLS 12" Ultimate in a sealed box. But it's been a while since I heard that to really compare.

I'll be posting pics tomorrow sometime to show you what my sub box looks like.

You know, I have a plug from a 2005 right side, too. Guess I need to finish that one, too.

first layer of filler on, sand and put on a second where needed later this evening. Then I'll work on the face. It's a 2-piece mold, since I added a rabbet around the edge to allow room for ponte knit fabric to stretch and make the face. Then a mold of that will be struck.

The face will be backed with a solid piece of 1/2 or 3/4 MDF (right into the wet poly resin that the end use can cut, or have me cut for them for a surface mount speaker-given the accurate dimensions.

Ryan - I'll make you one for the other side ;)

Second layer of filler on and sanded off. I flipped the plug over and added another 5-4 layers of mat. Will give it another sanding tomorrow and start hitting it with rattle cans and more sanding.

well, it withstood the "stand on" test at 275 pounds. I think it's solid.

Third coat of mud just applied, then prime, spot filler, and paint to prep for mold making. I'm thinking orange gel coat for this one.

I mentioned earlier, on production molds, I don't calculate the cost on the mold making, but the materials used and an hourly rate for me to make them.

I just have the rear of the plug made, it used about 1500cc's of resin and about 3' of 54" mat. The face will take a piece of MDF, about 2 square feet of ponte and about 400-600 cc's of resin. As for time...30 minutes to lay the pieces up in the mold, then a second session of about 20 minutes, then another 30 minutes to join the two together. No holes cut for the terminals or speakers.

A rough guess would be 150-200 plus shipping, but who knows. I can't see it being over $200- but that's for the right side.

I usually give the first buyer a bit of a break as a guinea pig to get it installed and tested... Inseek was the first bite, so he'll get first shot if he wants it.. if he can wait it out.

Tim, I am ready to be a beta tester :). I am now doing a research for front/rear speakers, as about subwoofer I think JL 10W3 or 10W6 if it fits should be just great for it...

hahahahahahaha, you gotta talk to vidoprof about that.

Seriously, after this piece, I need to concentrate on a few Brit car parts before I start on the left side. I have 4-5 pieces to get out before the end of the month, and this isn't my day job.
