    Yikes

Just ran a build on a Five; Blizzard, Nav, Plus, Hood clear wrap, Lower door chrome strips, Rear hatch carpet mat, & Rear bumper sticker.

    $35,911
    Figure $10k down payment & 4.xx% for 60 payments of $483.00

Hmmm, have to ponder that thought. It'd be a very pretty looking car.

Has anyone seen any weight specs for the 17" plus package wheels?

I mean really when you go to sell it who is going to know it didn't come from the factory.. I am sure you going to list is as a Prius with Plus Package.

But on a side note. I guess they ARE selling the package in the aftermarket already. :)

It's fraud if you advertise a retrofitted PLUS Prius as such and don't provide a disclaimer.

Suppose a used car buyer could run the VIN to find out what options a car has on it and see that the extras are not factory installed. There would still be value there, but to some not as great. Still, how many people really care that much about their Prii? I see them parked up front in the door dinger parking lots, dirty, full of bumper stickers, people stinkin them up by smoking, or looking like it is just transportation for them. I know on this forum there are a few who take serious care of their Prii though. To the regular Joe, I don't see much value, if any, in the Plus package. To those that cherish their Prii, yea there will be a difference from factory installed parts, and parts that some unknown user installed, even if they are sold by the dealership.

I have not but I wouldn't worry about it. The weight will have a minimal affect on MPG. It's the tires that will get you!

I have rented Prii that had replacement tires on them which were generic all season Mr Donut's. The mileage was 7-10 mpg down from normal even with them inflated to Wahoo pressure :p

Aye, we see PC members switch their OEM tires to some generic brand/model or ones designed for high performance and their mpg tanks and stays that way even after break in.

LRR tires are a must on any car you'd want to get decent gas mileage. It was an eye opening learning experience renting Prii with both LRR & Mr Donut tires and seeing first hand the huge gas mileage differences. Just driving a Prii with Mr Donut tires, I can feel the drag. The car is a turd with those tires :p

Try driving a car equipped with 17" wheels and Mr. Donut tires. That combo makes the car more sluggish than a UC Santa Cruz graduate. :D

:D funny stuff. I get a kick out of seeing people driving around when you can physically see thier tires squishing down & it isn't from some chunky chick :behindsofa: I have seen many Prii around Minneapolis that are setup that way. I doubt most people even own a pressure gauge. Winter time it's even worse with the colder air temps around here. Foolish :tsk:

Many people trade their cars. The dealer looks up the value based on what factory installed options the car has, so anything installed afterwards doesn't affect the value.

after reading this i when to my local dealer and found one on the lot, it's beautiful =)
i really liked the spring high after seeing it in person so i called my parts guy, he explained that they are only allowed to order the spring if i owned a prius plus. i guess the car come from the factory already modded and Toyota will check the vin before an order can be placed...
    either way it looks amazing

Wow that does look damn good :thumb: Definitely something I would consider if the Prii is what I buy next spring.

In case anyone is looking for this package in the Southern California area, I was quoted the following deal.

White/Gray Prius Five w/Nav and Plus package

    MSRP 34XXX

The vehicle was offered at $31XXX

Car is in stock at Hooman Toyota.

I was near that dealer yesterday so swung by to take a look. Overall, I was underwhelmed. The wheels were a little too boy racer for me. It was a Prius Two--seems strange to put a $4K option on a $24K car.

What color? I don't like it much on black, but the gunmetal wheels (actually hyper black as it can look silver or gunmetal depending on lighting) would look pretty sweet on Blizzard Pearl. Getting the PLUS package on the lower tiers is the way to go, as you get the same look and performance as the same package on those costing 10K more. I don't see much sense in getting this package on a Five though; better to go aftermarket for that.

The car in the picture above looked like it did not have springs prepped. It doesn't look low at all. Maybe that is why you were underwhelmed?
