Following is the telephone number and link to a locksmith on Long Island who can program a new or used Gen 3 Prius smartkey for less than half the price charged by the dealer. He may know an auto locksmith with the proper equipment and experience in your area. BTW, I have had 4 of 4 used smart keys sucessfully reprogrammed in California for our two Gen 3 Prii. For what it's worth, I used this locksmith: Asbury-MS Locksmithing, located near North Brunswick, with a dealer blank key. He charged $35 or so to program the blank and to cut the "laser-cut" key, both of which he did on the spot with no trouble whatsoever, and for a heck of a lot less than what the dealer was going to charge. He had a specific locksmithing computer program for the key; he did plug his computer into the car to do the work. That was in early 2011; by now, with advancements with the software and such, he may be able to do more. Good luck! kbeck
