As of this morning, Toyota has updated the USA subpages at Prius.com with the 2006 pricing and option info, including the new colors and even some screen shots of the new backup camera. Visit: http://www.prius.com/ and click on the USA link. - Bob R.
Hi Maggieddd - I folowed your link but it only brought up the main PriusChat.com homepage... perhaps there is another unique way to link to the document you wanted me to see. - Bob R.
Actually, it brings you to the Prius.com page. If you click on the USA flag link, it just brings you to www.toyota.com
Thanks -- I somehow completely missed that there was already a thread going... thought I had a scoop! Not a very good track record for my first post on PriusChat :-( Will endeavor to do better. - Bob R.
Anyone notice how dark the windows look, i.e., tinted? I suspect that's not the factory tint on the windows. Thoughts?
If that is indeed the 2006 Prius for North America, and not for the EU, then I have noticed a couple of differences: 1. Brake LED's are mounted in what appear to be silvery reflective stuff instead of black plastic. Maybe due to the reports of melting LED's? 2. There appears to be a smudge on the front fender. Hard to tell if it is a decal or a turn signal repeater lamp in the front fender. It looks kind of narrow. Otherwise it looks the same as my 2004.
I looked at the MFD demonstration on the website; they have changed the fonts of the screens. The consumption screen looks like it has removed the lines of the mpg chart. Aside from that I also noticed a silver decal on the side of the car in front of the front doors; I believe it says, "hybrid". When I look at the front it looks slight different, but I can't put my finger on it...what else have you noticed?
They have the "HYBRID" logo on the front fenders! Also, go to the Japanese site (I've started a thread here too). It shows the MFD with different button design. The silvery reflective thing is just chrome. Also, note that the interior accent trim has changed. On ours, it's a satin finish but on the 06, it's the bright silver finish. Note that the shifter seems to have conflicting colours. In one photo, it has a silver background, the next one shows it with a black background. In the dash photo, how come the shifter indicator is on the LEFT of the speedo? It also seemed to have grown in size.
There seem to be a few anomalies on the updated Toyota site: The sample picture refers to an "Option 9" configuration On the "Build Your Own" for the Seattle zip code for Option Package 7 it gives an option for Bisque Leather (LD41) interior at no extra charge. Of course they will probably never ship one in that configuration. All very interesting!
Yes, i just noticed that as well! My thought? I think that whoever came up with these pictures on the web site basically were told to photoshop in the displays of everything on the dash and the MFD... so they probably didn't know where to put stuff like that.
Did anyone notice footnote #11 on page 12??? (battery expected to last ~150,000 miles) So...let me get this straight...the warranty for the hybrid components is LESS now??? Makes me kinda happy I have an 04.
