My wife gave me a beautiful set of seatcovers from overseas, custom fit to the Gen III, but I do not believe they are adapted for the seat airbag. Any suggestions? Does anyone know the exact location of the airbag so I can have a seamstess cut a window or insert a velcro strip? Thanks!
I wouldn't chance something like the safety the airbags could provide for some overseas seat covers, modified or not... Sorry, but that's just me.
The seats have side airbags. Reputable manufacturers have 'break away' seems. Katzkin (what the dealers put in when you add leather state-side) has a huge liability contract worth millions - this protects the dealers / manufacturer from liability lawsuits - they have designed and tested the covers. That said, you'd need to follow up with whoever made the things to see if they are built for side seat airbags. If not, it becomes a larger safety risk in the event of an airbag deployment (crash)...
Thanks, the seat covers were hand made in China of very heavy upholstery fabric, custom to any car you would like. I am not sure the airbag concept has reached mainland China. My only solution is to cut a large opening in the side of the cover to allow for the airbag. Some cars plainly show where the airbag seam is, the Prius III does not. Thanks for all of your advise.
