i just picked up my prius from the autobody shop after a small bumper humper[ some clown ran a red light hit the wife ] car looks good but get in it and the fan is stuck on high even though i have tried to change everything . should i disconnect the battery to try to reset or just take it to the stealer to have them look at it. any advice appreciated.
Sorry about the accident. "bumper humper", too funny. Is this the A/C fan? Is it in "Auto" mode? If not, I would probably take it into the stealer if the auto-body shop does not take responsibility. Good luck with that.
Dealers like the drop the A/C all the way down to "LO," which makes the fan come on at full blast. Sounds like the body shop did the same.
The fan has a bit of a mind of its own, in my experience. If you set the fan only on (no A/C), then the fan speed can jump. I think it is the Prius' attempt to cool down the battery a bit. I'm not sure though. For instance this morning I turn on the fan to level 2 for some air flow and after a good while later, all of a sudden it went to a higher speed.
i looked at the things suggested, but that does not seem to be the problem. I disconnected the battery thinking that it would reset but no luck. talked to the auto body shop and all they did was disconnect the battery. so it goes to the stealership on tues, they should be able to fix it, [better be able to fix it]
