BBC: BBC News - Global warming lull down to China's coal growth We all know how this thread will end up but at least now there are more new factoids to be hotly contested.
Naaaah. There will be some denier out there that's going to say that the earth is actually warming....
I call junk science. If you look at that specific date range, you'll see global mean surface temperature dips after 1998 and in 2008. Data.GISS: GISS Surface Temperature Analysis: Analysis Graphs and Plots After 2008, there was another steep rise in temps...and looks like we're headed for another cooling temp. Since China's coal consumption is exponential, how could it account for the dip in 1998? Is it just me, or do all these temperature graphs remind you of stock market graphs?? Every index is a bit different, and even the brightest fund managers haven't been able to come up with a sure fire prediction model!
China is more of a threat to the world then any other country and no one gives a crap because the cheap stuff they make available for hungry western consumers who buy, then goodwill or trash their Chinese junk.
Those interested in what the US imports from China, and vice versa, can see an overview here US-China Trade Statistics and China's World Trade Statistics
We paid the American Indians glass beads for Manhattan. We sold the entire country for plastic junk. But Walmart executives got rich in the process.
The problem is, the climate doomsdayers manage to spin EVERY new observation to claim it explains global warming. A group of 10 climate experts on NBC nightly news explained back in March that of course we should expect colder snowier winters if the climate is warming. Huh? This is exactly the opposite of their explanation before the winters got back in the last few years. As a environmental researcher who works with data every day, the sloppy way the climate community deals with data is appalling, and is sometimes scientific misconduct.
