I didn't see a forum for generation one, so I am posting here. My battery on the car was bad so it cost me $2600 for a new one. Then the dealer told me that the transaxel was bad, and that was another $3500. Well thankfully Toyota put a new transaxel on for free!!!! They also changed the inveter fluid for free. I was going to sell the car with the new battery because I was afraid something else might go wrong. Would you all keep it with the new and most expensive parts replaced? 134,000Miles

I just got a 2001 with 275,000 needing both batteries, hoping for a long time savings FKZ

I would absolutely keep it. Your present Prius gets you from point A to point B safely and economically. Would a newer more expensive car do anything more than that?

And my next car would be a Toyota as well.

Yes, I'd definitely be hanging on to it at this point. :)

Yeah the Gen 1 forum is kinda buried. Sorry!

Well, you essentially have a partial new car (battery and transaxle) so I would hang on to it... unless you want a 2012 Plug-in ;)

Good call. There is a Gen 1 forum, but posting there is a waste of time. Last time I posted a question there, I only got one response. Meanwhile, every off-topic, b.s. thing posted in the general area gets a million responses. What a joke.

It doesn't help that they buried the forum so that nobody can find it either.
