I'm waiting with no obligation on a Prius III from my local dealer. After a month of waiting no updates or info. I saw online the Costco program with significant discounts but when I applied online with what I was looking for and my membership number, it said no dealer was available un my area. I didn't give my ZIP code or anything and am willing to travel to get a good deal. Does Costco still do this program for Prius III and if so, are there any dealers from California to Texas and north that are currently participating? Thanks!

I suspect that Toyota dealers are not honoring the discount on Prii at this time. I ordered a Prius through the Costco buying program in March prior to the problems in Japan and was able to get a discount. When my car came in last month the salesman told me that they were not offering discounts on new sales so I think you will have to wait until supply catches up with demand. By the way, I think I could have gotten just as much of a discount if I had delt directly with the dealership via the Internet. My offer was the same as if I had sent a equest for quote directly to the dealership through the Internet. Patience!

I would agree that discount club pricing is not valid while inventories are low. If you're willing to travel, you might consider researching dealers online across vairous zip codes. Let the dealers compete against each other online, then make phone contact. If you have a trade, the dealer doesn't need to know until it's time to confirm purchase.

Today the local AAA price for a III is $25504 while MSRP is $25280. If you can, wait. Production will normalize & prices will fall.

If you want a big discount buy a truck or SUV. I believe you won't see a discount on a Prius until 2012.

I am a Los Angeles Co. resident and I bought a 2010 Toyota Prius (Package 2) for $25,623.61 (including all tax & fees) at DCH Toyota of Oxnard in Ventura Co., California, during July 2010.

Also in Jan. 2010, I bought 2010 Toyota Prius (Package 3) for $25,976.78 (including all tax & fees), without navigation, at the same dealership.

Please note that I bought both vehicles through the Costco Auto Buying Program. Generally they gave about $500 to $700 discount when buying through the Costco Auto Buying Program.

I was looking for a new pickup truck earlier this year. I had better luck with the Costco program by phone than using their web site.

Prices last summer were unreal, comparing them to prices this summer is depressing (for those currently in the market, not those who bought last year)! We purchased our 2010 III w/Nav last July for $23K through USAA, that same configuration is listed at MSRP today, no discounts or incentives. I do believe prices will go down wonce production resumes to pre-diaster levels and supplies return to the dealerships. This is not the time to buy a new Prius, best to wait it out...
