Sounds like the OP wants the ford sync and some kind of tec like that is very importmant to him. So i was say he might be happy in a Fusion.

Actually, I think he wants that technology in a Prius. I don't think he wants the Ford Fusion (older hybrid technology).

Only Prius v and Camry are confirmed to get entune in 2012. Would be nice to see it show up on regular prius too.

Most of entunes features probably wont work when the car is moving anyway.

Not if the "ground the parking wire" trick/hack works.

I would settle for being able to listen to Pandora radio, and hear text messages and what not without having to pull my phone out of my pocket (BT streaming can do some of this, but you can't change playlists, thumbs up/down, etc).

I imagine Entune is going to be a work in progress at least for a while, the one good thing is that it is being designed as a firmware updatable package, so that as new capabilities and apps come along, they should be available to any Entune user, at least until the hardware itself gets obsoleted down the road.

So any more information on this yet? Much like the OP I am looking to get a prius pretty soon and after some research it seems the only thing really lacking is the USB hookup to your phone.

Does anyone know if this feature will come standard in a regular 2012 prius? The only thing I want is the ability to listen to music and charge my android at the same time via my cars USB. I don't see a reason to pay 5k more for it as the NAV is completed unnecessary.

It's confusing why it isn't standard in such a techy car....

    Thanks everyone!

Is there a good after market system that would give you most of this? I know many people talk about the Rosen. I am planning on buying a II and updating it in the aftermarket and would love to have some of the features of a Ford Touch- only in something that actually worked and wasn't buggy.

There's not much to a techy Toyota unless it's a Lexus.

Also a good point.. what kind of after market stereo can be installed in a prius?

My whole debacle is... why should I pay 25+ for a car when its missing something as simple as a usb port. I am sure I'm not alone on this issue.

And yes the prius is a VERY techy car imo.

25K is hardly a lot of money for a new car.

okay more like 28 or 30 with taxes and fees.

And for some of us that is a lot of money whether it be for a new car or not. Its $25,000 + that's not chump change.

It may be a lot of money to you, but that's still chump change in new car world.

Anyways.. back to the original question...

Anyone have any information on whether the entune system will come standard with the regular prius... and if not how much would an aftermarket stereo system with usb usually cost?

The Road & Track blurb indicates it'll be optional for the 2012 Prius.

If the Prius v is any indication, most likely not. Toyota still wants the base 6-speaker single CD setup as a low cost option to keep the price down on the entry level Prius. Besides, why would you buy an entry-level Prius if you wanted the toys? Most cars make you buy the toys in packages or higher trim levels.

If it was standard, then expect a higher base price (again, no different than if you were to upgrade in the first place)

Toyota has same nice toys for bad price (f.e. IPA, adaptive CC) and bad, pricy ones like NAV. The problem is that Toyota don't offer individual customization like VW, Audi, Skoda. They packed nice and bad toys together. It is the reason people are going to aftermarket.

According to this site, 2012 models can be ordered in October and production will begin in December for the February 2012 delivery.
