Hello my name is Yukari...I go by Yuka..I originally from Shizuoka, Japan. I moved to Washington State 8 years ago..I just recovering from car accident that happened 2 weeks ago..and also hospital before that with Crohn's disease....but I am okay now. I was hit by semi-truck in my 2009 Prius which was beyond repair. I am debating to getting something different now and more safe. This car being small as it is. I have test driven a brand new F-150, Tundra, and Silverado. I need a full-size truck to tow my tent trailer/boat. something I always had to use from my ex-boyfriends truck. Although i'll always miss my prius. It was fixed up and had saibon carbonfiber hood, 17" Motegi rims and TRD JDM rear wing and front lip spoiler/side skirts. For now I am borrowing my little brother's BMX bike for transportation until I find out what to buy lol
Welcome Yukari. Sorry to hear about the wreck. Same to hear a Prius go down in flames. Guess if you have to buy a truck, the Tundra would be your best bet. Take care.
The Chevy is out the picture..just thought it wasnt the same as previous models were better I thought..So far I like the F-150 and it has a larger engine and more HP and torque. and I know it would pull the boat quite nicely..The Tundra has alot of road noise, and just feels clunky the way it rides. Toyotas in Japan arn't built like that! Proves Americans should stick to building just that..American and So tomorrow I will put in the final decision as it is obvious.
Bigger does NOT necessarily mean safer. Look up actual safety records and tests for any vehicle you are considering.
Check out the new F-150. If you can wait long enough to get the 3.5L Eco-boost engine you'll be set. The quaility on the new Fords is quite good. Better than the GM trucks. Trust me, I raced GMs for over a decade. But like others said, bigger does not always equal safer. Especially for the person YOU crash into.
Well I have an old beater camouflage-painted '78 Suburban diesel and it's seen better days as it was the old work horse I used to pull my toys around..so I figure since the Prius is dead and gone might as well get a new truck and something more versatile to do just that.. The F-150 this new one I was looking at I think I'll pass on....Saw this other f-150 today its black with these silver stripes..foose edition slightly used but I know who the previous owner is..2008 and it only has 3,200 miles! I think I might buy it before fell in love with it when I saw it today! Supercharger, and 450 hp
maybe bigger isn't always better but I was picking glass out of the side of my face and in my hair and everywhere else also on the trip the hospital after it happened..nothing too serious thankfully I have to make a couple chiropractic visits also..

Just remember that by their higher center of gravity, trucks, and other large, high vehicles tend to have more accidents that involve roll overs.
unless you are driving another semi, a bigger car will not help one bit. and paying for gas on a bigger vehicle you use as your daily driver will hurt. i am glad you have survived your accident. don't let this sway you into thinking you would have been better off in a higher-centered vehicle which a much greater chance of rolling in accidents that smaller cars do not experience
