Can anyone tell me if the factoryinteractive install uses a Sirius receiver whcih can be disconnected from the car and used on the home stereo with a cradle adapter like the Plug 'n Play?

Your question was already answered in the fifth post in this thread.

THe answer is no - it is not portable, and it only works when hooked up to the head unit in the car.

Where might I find more information about the 'Y' cable and connecting that? I admit I haven't looked extensively, but there is so much about this car I am trying to do (all at the same time it seems). My Sirius radio has an audio out (as well as the FM modulator). The modulator is fine for my company truck, but it would be nice to be able to go straight out/in when I'm in the Prius.

    Thanks,

    Tony

I purchased Sirius from Jon at Internection (www.internection.com). Watched the DVD all the way through yesterday, then did the install this afternoon. I used the DVD on my Powerbook on the work bench and stepped through Jon's demonstration and instructions - very helpful. I felt confident every step of the way. In retrospect, I could not have done the installation without the DVD. Written instructions are very clear, but the DVD demonstrates clear and loud.

I phoned Sirius (888.539.7474) and purchased the Lifetime subscription ($499, good through 31 January 2006). Sirius was active within a few minutes. At not quite $11 per month, the Lifetime subscription will be cost effective in 50 months (4.2 years).

My compliments to Interconnection and Jon!

I have been a Prius owner now for under 100 hours and love the car. My question is a repeat of an earlier question in this forum that was not clearly answered. I want to get Sirius but don't want to lose my existing radio chanels. I have the base model so I guess there is an input out back for the CD changer. How does this work?

When you install Sirius you retain all the functions and presents on the radio (AM, FM, CD). Sirius just adds three screens (Sat1, Sat2, Sat3) giving you the potential for 18 Satellite presets. You only give up one port in the back (connects to the 6CD changer that normally mounts below the radio). Otherwise, adding Sirius is seamless.

And if you have the added changer (or Aux box), you can get a Y adapter that allows more than one device to plug into the expansion port. Yeh, expansion port. That seems like the best description of it.

I followed the advice in this thread and got the factory interactive Sirius. Took my laptop to the garage, got out a good light and finished the whole install in about 2 hours. Everything worked exactly as the DVD described. VERY COOL. I highly recommend it.

I have zero experience experience running cables in a car. Does the DVD show you how to thread the actual wires from the antenna to the unit? Does it have to go under the rug, that sort of thing? Or does it assume you already know how to do that sort of finish work?

I just picked up my 06 Prius with the HK package. Since the radio screens are slightly different now, I wonder if this Sirius kit would work with my car.

It shows you how to do everything - including techniques for detaching dash panels, every fastener and interior panel you'll need to remove, exact locations to route wires, where to store things while you're working so you don't lose them, etc. etc. You could be totally inept at auto repair and still be able to follow the directions on the DVD and do a clean install.

    Highly recommended.

I just picked up the sporster replay for my 05 Prius and will be installing it in the next few days. Was it difficult to install, where did you mount the attena and how did you rout it to the Sporster Replay? Did you use the suction cup holder or the velcro and where did you mount the reciever? Any tip that you can give me on the installation will be appreciated.

    Thanks

Why buy these kits versus just going with dealer installed option, seems almost the same price??? Am I missing something here
