My iPad will be arriving in a few days. I have been looking around the internet for a good case. There are plenty of reviews but I haven't found anything that jumps out at me. So I'm wondering what cases you all might have. I'm thinking of something that covers front and back and is sort of bookish. Just to be clear, I'm getting an iPad with WiFi only. It's going to spend probably 95% of it's life in the house, venturing out very rarely. I don't really plan on watching a lot of movies on it; I have the iMac for that. And I don't think I'll be doing any hard-core gaming. Basically, it's instead of getting a laptop.
I'm not sure what you've already looked at, but here's a site with a wide variety of options, with reviews.
iPad or iPad 2? FWIW, I have a black one of http://kevikev.com/Yoobao-Slim-Genuine-Leather-Apple-iPad-2-Smart-Case-YBIPAD2.htm. http://forums.macrumors.com/forumdisplay.php?f=139 is a good place to discuss and read people's experiences.
I can't tell you what to get (I'm still looking myself), but DON'T get this. I did and most of the keys in the second row (you know, the one where most of the vowels live) didn't work.
I like that Yoobao (because it uses the smart cover tech) but am trying to stay away from leather. My wife and I aren't completely vegan but we just try to avoid unnecessary leather items. So if there's somethign like it in a non-leather option I'd be really interested. I'll look into the other sites you all have suggested this evening (when not at work).
While I don't have an I-pad I do have a B&N Nook. I use a case from Javoedge.com and I love the case. I know they have I-pad cases.
I got the Smart Cover from apple and then had the front and back skinned (went on like window tint). Much better grip now, and I'm not afraid to put it down.
I'm really liking the JAVOedge covers. Specifically, this one: Apple iPad 2 Editor Axis Case with Sleep/Wake - Apple iPad 2 | JAVOedge I like that the cover and the case do not appear to be physically connected which allows for the vertical and horizontal positioning. Also that it uses the auto sleep/wake feature. Throw in a screen protector and I'm set.
Tony, I have the tweed case for my e-reader and I love it. The case appears to be good quality and there are a few people at work that want to take my case.
Actually, the reason I ask is my girlfriend has a B&N-branded Nook case she LOVES, and we want to get iPad cases made by the same people.
I bought an IPad about three months ago and with it I got a ZAGG/Mate which is both a form fitting cover as well as a excellent keyboard. The electronic keyboard is OK.... but has certain issues, which you have probably already experienced. The ZM cost $100 but I think it was worth it, you may find cheaper on line. I also double protect the IPad with a common folder type carrier for carrying papers, Bus cards etc This is used when I go to the coffee shop, Hotels, etc. Also, fingerprints show like crazy on the IPad so I took the protective clear plastic case that the ZM came in and cut it to size to fit the IPad and Voila, no more fingerprints! I then incorporated this idea into the MFD, und der selbe, no more fingerprints!!! Cheers Andy.
That does look nice. Personally, when I get my iPad, I'm just going to put it in one of those neoprene sleeves that you can get for $4 shipped: 10" 10.1" Neoprene Carry Strap Bag For iPad iPad 2 P116 | eBay A Justin Bieber model will cost you $26 shipped: JUSTIN BIEBER 10" Netbook / Apple iPad 2 Case Sleeve | eBay
I just got an iPad2. I have the Smart Cover and I picked up a cheap ($16) netbook case to protect it when I put it in my backpack.
Just to be clear, Ryan, is the cover physically attached to the back or is it magnetically connected. I ask because if it's physically attached, I can't think what I'd do with the cover when I want to just hold the iPad without propping it up.
I don't know, don't own Ipad. Sent them an email, their customer service is pretty good at responding.
