Well I like jokes as much as the next person, however my breathing isn't really a laughing matter IMO. Things like a little bit of Ozone or driving with windows open when pollen level is high can send me to ER. I have been researching this for more than a little while, I thought this was a place were I could get a clear bit of information, since I couldn't from Toyota or any of the dealers I have checked with, they don't seem to know.
The best answer for you is for you to test out the PlasmaCluster. You just get ready with your handheld inhaler in hand + Medrol Dose pack (and cup of water) and sit in a Prius with PlasmaCluster for about 15 min (windows close). Test it out for yourself. Or just ask the dealer to let you take an extended testdrive...again with your handheld inhaler and meds in hand. Dov, isn't your bad back the MAIN concern here in preventing you from getting the Prius?? I would focus on THAT before worrying about the insignificant amount of Ozone.
Thai is right. (Note to forum: we do agree on some things! ) Your breathing isn't what we were cracking wise about. Plasmaclusters aren't new technology, and they're not exclusive to Priuses. Many public buildings use them. We even use them in the submarine fleet (as Oreck often points out.) Ozone production is typical for air ionizing purifiers...and cars...and thunderstorms...and electric motors...etc. Although high concentration of ozone is dangerous, most air ionizers produce low amounts (<0.05 ppm), and while this may not be a "low" amount for you, and the concentration is higher in a diminutive car like the G3, I really do not think that (A) you can do much to avoid it and (B)Toyotas are a significant source for ozone, else there would be swarms of lawyers filing lawsuits on behalf of breathing impaired Prius drivers. Besides, a Prius internet forum isn't a really good place to get definitive medical information As you pointed out, high pollen is also an irritant for your breathing---which will be ameliorated by things like air purifiers and CAFs. Good Luck! Get real medical advice and an inhaler or two.
Well I am looking at the Camry Hybrid because of the seat/back issue. All Camry Hybrid's come with the Plasmacluster, however there is no thread here about Camry with plasmacluster. So I posted in this thread. Does that make sense? Your idea for testing would be good idea if I didn't have such severe problems. Having my inhaler on hand (have it with me all the time already) won't be enough if it is a problem from ozone.
Greetings, I recently purchased a used 2010 Prius with Nav. I'm wondering how I can tell if my Prius has a Plasmacluster. I decided to revive this thread instead of make a new one since its similar. I was unable to tell and my dealer had no idea what I was talking about (and it wasn't listed on the feature list). Thank you. BadBeans
If you have a 2010 Prius IV then yes, it has plasmacluster. The 2010 IV and V and the 2011 4 and 5 have plasmacluster, the lower models do not. Also, your climate control screen should say it, like it does in this picture:
