Hi guys, I have a Gen 2 and I was wondering if 18 by 8.5 all around would fit? I like the Forgestars F14, but the narrowest they come is 18 by 8.5 and I have did some search everyones running 7.5 or 8 in the front and just want to see if any other members here have ran 18. 8.5 ! Really appreciate your guys help! Thanks!
Don't forget tire size will affect the offset you need to run. What tire size were you thinking? You might have to stretch some tires too.
Here is a wheel offset calculator. You need to know the offset ofthe OEM wheel currently on the car. Wheel Offset Calculator You could try a 225/40/18 tire. That would be very close to OEM diameter. The ContiTouringContact CW95 is a LRR tire in that size but it doesn't have a good treadwear rating and it's pricey at $196/ea.. The Continental ExtremeContact DWS is a favorite of the guys with 18" wheels and they are only $144/ea..
Take the measurement of inner and outer clearance. Use the offset calculater and you'll then know what you can run and what offsets you'll need
I've read that the offset for OEM GenIII 15" wheels is 45mm and 50mm for the 17" wheel. http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii...-correct-wheel-offset-want-some-new-ones.html
Late reply and the answer that the OP asked is probably OBE. I run 18x8.5 with a +48 offset. 245/40 and 235/40 tire size will rub in the front if you are lowered. 245/40 will rub in the rear but 235/40 you miiiight be okay. 235/40 is still a bit wide but might be narrow enough to not rub. With 245/40s I did not have to roll fenders. With that said, If you are running 18x8.5 you should be okay with 225/40 up front and more than okay with 215/40s and not rub. +48 is the perfect offset to have the front wheel flush with the fender. A 5mm spacer could be used in the rear if you don't like the look of your wheel possibly tucking into the fender well.
