Do all Prius' have this LED issue?!

What wattage are these LEDs? Are they direct replacements for the original lamps, or did you improvise something?

If they are indeed direct replacements then I'd have to suspect a wiring problem. If you don't want to open the headliner then you'll have to take it to a dealer...

 

No, not normal at all. What bulbs did you use? Do you have pictures. You should have 0 issues with this.

Xenon HIDs get VERY hot. It's a good thing you noticed the problem before you let it go too long. That could have been a very expensive mistake.

 

I will bet they sure were blinding bright when they came on

Those are not xenon HIDs (which require balasts and look much different)--they are basic wedge bulbs. That should have been the first clue of trouble.

Nor are they LEDs as the OP stated.

 

It does not have to be so hard. One of the reasons for this forum is to share information.

Had you searched you would have found your answers and saved a lot of time and money.

You have to learn to profit from the experience of others.

It might keep you from burning up your Prius.

Now that you know the real reason, I'd go back to AutoZone and tell that guy off. Then knock something over on your way out.

 

Sure do.

Dome lights and door lights (anything that turns on when the door opens) are red.
Map lights are white.
When all lights are on it looks pink, lol.
I never ended up doing any blue.

This is one of the easiest mods you could ever do, once you know which parts to use.

I got some blue ones coming in the next day or so, if I like it I will take some pics and share.

 

My GENII likes to eat LED bulbs for breakfast. I've had them burn out in the foglights and the tail lights. The ones in the dome and vanity sockets work fine though.

 

My GEN3 likes to eat the parking light ones. I've tried 3 different LEDs from 2 different sources and within a week at least one goes out. I figure that since I've already paid for them, I'll keep going until they're all dead then switch back to the regular bulbs. It's a shame, I like the white parking w/ the white HID kit I have.

 

This may sound like a dumb question...but can you just put a few coats of blue ink from a Sharpie on the bulb? You might not even have to take it out.
