Hi all. I have just taken delivery of a pearl white (blizzard pearl) Gen 3. I've added 20% tints and have been thinking about different rims rather than the standard OEM 17" affairs. Then it hit me - rather than buying new black 17" rims just powder coat the standard ones So, does anyone have a, preferably white, Prius and has painted the standard 17" rims black? I know black rims would look great against the white body colour but I'm not sure the standard rims are right. Might they look a little clumpy in black? BTW, I'm hopeless at things like Photoshop so it's pointless me trying to colour in the standard wheels as a comparison. Cheers for any advice.
No effing way!!!! Your car is gorgeous the way it is (because I got the exact same) so don't you go messing it up.
Powder coating is way better than DIY spray can paint. As long as you are doing it the right way, you are fine with many of the purists out there. White would definately be an interesting choice. Sorry, no photoshop avail right now to help
If you do it let us know how it looks and post pictures please. Posted from my iPhone via the Tapatalk app.
I hope you go for it. White car + semi-gloss black wheels = hotness! Check out the after market wheel thread, I recall quite a few pics of white cars with black/dark wheels that will prove my point
I plastidip sprayed mine. I traded my 2010 stock wheels for the 2Gen version. I really like the look of them and i think they turned out great. The other good thing about Platidip is that it peels off if you ever want to remove it later.
