I'd like to add driving lights to my 2010 that came without them. I suspect the car already has harnessing for them ready to go but can someone recommend the best/brightest fit by experience? Does the harnessing exist? I could not find in previous posts. THank you!
The "driving lights" (or DRLs) are located in your headlight housing, and are on all models. They use a 194/168/W5W wedge bulb. I assume that you're refering to the "fog lights" that go in the front bumper. If so, there's no existing harness on the car. For more info, click here: 2010 Prius Fog Light Install (Retrofit)
One of the differences having DRLs (Daytime Running Lights) is that the parking lights are not on. When the headlights are on, you also have your parking lights on. Another difference is that DRLs are usually set at a lower power output. So why the prius doesn't have it in the USA version, I have no clue? If Toyota is selling their STAR safety system, I would imagine they would make DRLs available globally in every prius. Heck they added the middle back headrest to our US models and they were not forced to, so why didn't they add DRLs? When I owned an 8th gen honda civic it came standard with DRLs. Maybe someone else could chime in on why DRLs are not available in the US models, after all, insurance companies love them.
You buy a little electrics box that runs your front turn signal bulbs as DRLs. Their orange color makes them quite distinctive and easy to see. When you turn on your turn signals, the bulbs revert back to normal operation until you turn off your turn signals. I used one of this companies kits on my 96 Corvette and it worked nicely Sequential Turn Signals, One Touch Turn Signals, Challenger Sequential Taillights, Sequential Tail Lights, Mustang, Dynamite Stick Sequential, Pulsing Brake Light Pulser Flasher, One Touch Convertible Top, Corvette Flasher Bypass Harness, Dynamite St They think their kit will also work on a Gen III but you will have to figure out you won connections http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-ii-...eview-daytime-running-lights-webelectric.html
