I went to fill up the other day and had the following #'s: Trip: 740 km Distance before fueling indicator: 26 km Fuel amount into car to full capacity: 35 litres Since the fuel tank is a 45 litre capacity this means I had 10 litres left. The fuel indicator was on the last LED (half) and flashing. I'm averaging about 4.5 litres / 100km so would it be safe to assume I could go another approximate 200kms? Is there some sort of reserve capacity for the prius? Thx.
I have noticed that when I get gas when the pump first shuts off you can still put in 2 US gallons of gas before it shows at the filler neck, if you take your time. alfon
So this would mean that instead of having 26 kms left the car actually has conservatively ~ 160 kms before the tank goes dry?? Perhaps the computer is programmed so that a person doesn't run out of fuel?
No, it means that the station's pump turned off too soon, and your tank wasn't totally full when you left the station.
The pump didn't shut off too soon. I always fuel up at the same place & I also top it up even though it may have stopped on its own.
