That's what I did too. Considering the design goals for the car, it was quieter than I expected. It's quiet for an economy car, which is what the basic construction and sound deadening level is. Toyota put their money in the sophisticated drive train and into keeping weight down for fuel economy. Adding more sound deadening would have added cost and weight. I think some people get annoyed at the sound level because they have been in quieter cars and without thinking about it expect a Prius to be as quiet.
Same thing here, but previous car was an Avalon - so I guess I shouldnt expect the same ride and interior quiet. But hey - how great it is at the gas pump! And you're:car: being green too!
As noted before, i don't agree with this. Please note that there are plenty of NOISY non-economy cars around...yes, noisier than Prius...quick example? Honda Accord. So, i am not sure if you can equate noisy interior to "level of construction" or "quality of car." Recently, i rode in my friend's Camry SE V6 (current gen). Frankly, i did not feel that his car was any quieter than my Prius. This may be due to my Ecopia tires...however, the Camry SE, at least the one that i was in, was not that much quieter. I also testdrove an HS250h a while back and, again, did not feel/hear that huge of a difference. Now, the Avalon or Lexus ES...now, those are quiet.
Neither a luxury car...when will you actually get that thru your mind? There is such a thing as a non-economy non-luxury car ya know! It is just not an economy car. Hyundai Sonata (non-hybrid) is kinda noisy too BTW. Sorry if you bought a basic car and want to downgrade everyone else's ride to make you feel better about your "bargain basement" car.... PS: you should buy a car with a few options next time...you may actually think highly of it instead of calling it something that it is not! HOW IS THAT FOR USEFUL ADVICE FROM ME??
Love it, op makes a negative post and goes away Do you wear hearing aids? Serious question. New Michelin tires and it's loud, 20,000 miles, hmm, front wheel bearings will make a car "undriveably" loud, took 40,000 for my 06. Negativity on Prius chat is acceptable if it's relative and reliable but when you become a post ghost it makes for uncertainty.
Yep. Looks like the OP tossed a grenade and ran. PriusChat Forums - View Profile: dschwalm currently shows "Last Activity: 01-07-2011 09:37 AM" which is the same date that he started this thread.
Doesn't fit my experience with Prius. My SO thinks they are noisy in the winter time because the engine runs more for heat, compared to summer time noise. I know they are quieter than my '02 Accent ecno box that i am looking to replace with a hybrid. IMHO it is quieter than Hyundai Sonata but noisier than Camry or Accord.
Mine is noisier than our Acura TL and quieter than our Corvette. Driving down the highway, the Corvette's basic biggest noise problem is tire noise, like the Prius. For the same reason too, a lack of sound deadening to save weight. I don't find the Prius noise to be a problem, it's easy to converse in the car or listen to the sound system and after driving all day there is no noise fatigue issues.
The Prius is A lot quieter than my last car, 04 WRX even when it was brand new. Then after I got catless downpipes and exhaust system, yeah, no competition. The Prius wins hands down
Thai you have issues !!! every time you get in a give your opinion I believe confuses every one here.... amazing!!! noisy cars like Lexus HS250h and Honda Accord!! WOW jajajajajjaja
"I also testdrove an HS250h a while back and, again, did not feel/hear that huge of a difference." I have not seen any statement that HS250h is more quiet than Prius 2010, just that there is not much difference. I don't think that Thai is the one that has issues...
