Can someone tell me how to determine in which plant my car was built. Need to know if T-SB-0032-11 on warped engine under cover applies. Choices are Tsutsumi #1, Tsutsumi #2,or Toyota Auto Body. Thanks Tom
I'm pretty sure he VIN digit after the A designates the plant.. Most TSBs list the production change effective VIN, so as long as your VIN is before it (doesn't matter which plant it was produced at) you have the old part. FYI--there's a doc floating around here that is a VIN decoder.
The following attachment has the Toyota VIN description and gives the numbers for the different plants. I thought it had a description for the different Toyota Japan plants but it does not.
Stream You are correct three plants are listed on the TSB. Plant codes 0-9, J =TMC which tells me Toyota Motor Corp? Still dont know which plant! Tom
Looking at this PDF file, and if Streams correct that the VIN digit after the 'A' designates the plant, then 0 would be Tsutsumi No.1 Line, 1 would be Tsutsumi No.2 Line, and 5 would be Toyota Auto Body. Call your dealership and give them your VIN before taking it in, they'll let you know if you need the updated engine under cover. http://priuschat.com/forums/attachm...05604668-tsb-oil-change-door-t-sb-0032-11.pdf
