Realistically speaking, you're not going to get Toyota to replace the headlight assembly by pointing out that the internal reflector is "damaged."

You: Look, the internal reflector is melting!
Service advisor: Do your headlights still work, yes?

Sounds like you're rationalizing and trying too hard to justify the prospective cost of an extended warranty, all because of some aberrant DRCC behavior.

Why don't you back off a little bit, ok? Dude, i was just asking. Not trying to rationalize anything. And if this internal reflector leads to malfunction down the road, then what? Will this burned reflector affect headlight function within the next 6 years, 125k miles? (BTW, maybe not in your case, but my headlights are VERY important to me on a daily basis! Actually, LEDs are one of the main reasons why i got a V.)

    peace and love everyone :(

A simple fix in switching materials should solve the problem

Doubtful, given that several Lexus models have this same setup for a lot longer than the Prius V/Five has with no ill effect and a couple of posters indicated that this melting won't cause light failure (as it isn't the lens that's melting) but change the way the light looks on the road however slightly.

Are you sure? The LEDs on the LS600h L have a 3-bulb setup vs. the 2-bulb setup on the Prius (I'm not counting the near-side wide beam reflector, just the main projectors). Are we sure the internal components of each are the same? It's possible that the Prius ones have been improved over the LS because they can get the required illumination with one fewer projector.

No kidding. The halogen projectors really focus the light in the centre.

Adding to this, the material in the LS600H may be different because it's the first generation of LED headlamps from koito/nichia. They may look the same, but the Prius's headlamps were designed from improving over the LS's, although the Prius is more mass produced. Hence why the switch in materials.
