For those considering a little extra protection in the cargo area ... My wife had a coffee incident (as in a container of coffee leaked out) in the cargo area. We had the stock mat in place (rubber side up) which helped a bit. But, the coffee managed to creep out the sides and under the mat staining both the permanent carpetish stuff (not really carpet but looks like it) and the carpet side of the removable mat. I was able to pretty much get the stains out of the permanent cartpetish stuff, but the carpet side of the mat had some areas where nothing touched it (particularly the fluffier parts around the edges). Anyway, I looked at getting the Weathertech mat. But, it was a solid piece and we need access to the hidden cargo area underneath. So, I bought the Toyota Prius all-weather mat. In all, I like it. It has cupped edges that probably would have helped with the coffee incident, but they're not as tall as the Weathertech. It DOES allow access to the hidden storage area. But, the mat is split into two pieces to accomplish that. I would have preferred some kind of hinge instead. Although they overlap and try to lock together, they don't always hold very well. Don't try to use it over the stock carpeted mat. It fits much better when installed directly on the floor. It does the job and as long as you make sure the pieces are locked together, I think it will protect pretty well. It's not the perfect solution, but there just didn't seem to be any better choices if you need access to the storage area. It was about $100 with tax from the dealer.

You can search for them on ebay. Look for Toyota dealerships selling them on ebay. You can buy it from them. OR, like impatient me, i want it NOW...so, i used the price on ebay and went to my local dealer parts department to negotiate with them. In the end, i paid for the "internet price" + tax....i think that i got the OEM cargo mat for $72 after taxes. Good luck.
I have a dog who loves to swim and jump into mudholes, so I got the Weathertech mat. Works great, though I have to roll up the mat a bit to access the underfloor storage area.
Evtran - yes that's the one. Thai -I didn't want to wait either. I guess I could have tried to haggle, but our dealerships here in SoCal are probably a little less flexible than yours. It was discounted even at the price I got (or so I was told).
You have to go for Husky Liner, you'll never go back. oops! it's for cargo mat, never mind. I thought you guys were talking about the floor mat. I had the dealer give me a OEM all weather mat when I bought the car. Except for the annoying 2 piece design, it's good since it'll let you access the bottom bay without having to remove the whole mat (just the bottom half). So far it's the best alternative for all weather mat that'll allow you to access the bottom bay with least difficulty.
Husky Liner makes cargo area mats also they have a higher lip than the WeatherTech cargo liner does. I have a Husky Liner cargo mat installed. I was shipped a cancelled WeatherTech liner while waiting for the return shipping label I installed it and took and posted some photos here at PC. Somewhere in the floor mat threads there are pictures of both the Husky and the WT cargo liners. Posted from my iPhone via the Tapatalk app.
I just got this cargo mat this week and I ordered it through the PriusChat shop. I really like it, it fits perfectly (even over my Folding Carpet Cargo Mat) and I love that my access to the under storage compartment is not hindered. The two piece design is a little weird so you have to make sure you have the channels locked in place, but it works and it's the reason the under storage is so easy to access. It even says "Prius" on it which is a nice touch.
good to know..Never heard of husky liners..I was planning to get weather tech mats for the Minnesota winters here..but I'll check these Hunskies out.. Thanks..
I thought of getting the Huskies for the front and rear seats but I just don't know if I really need anything that heavy duty. I've ordered the clear ExactMats to see how I like those for now. Waiting for them to arrive. I park in a garage at home and work, and I'm not really trudging through a lot of snow or mud, so it's probably overkill for me. I figured the ExactMats would work fine for the little snow I might track in and generally for when it rains.
I just noticed one more new benefit of OEM all weather mat. Because of its rubber surface, it actually holds stuff in the cargo still. :thumb:
