11,000 dollars? I am thinking of getting a 2007 with 90,000 miles, but I am not certain about the miles? It has tinted windows, gps system...pretty much loaded.
In today's current market based on info you have supplied I would say that is a good deal. If you are in no hurry to buy one and are capable of waiting a few months I think the prices will come down as new car supplies recover and fuel prices continue to fall.
the car still has about 10,000 miles before the warranty expires. Should I change the battery before that? so i could have a new battery before the warranty expires? or should i get a new warranty?
Battery should be fine in car for another 50 to 60k miles if not more. I would wait till warranty expires and battery goes bad before I spend any money on it. Replacement battery if i'm not mistaken from Toyota is only for 1 year so you would be wasting a perfectly good battery to replace it before it dies.
sounds like a good deal to me. OP, check which state the car originally came from. If it was a CARB state then the battery is warranted for 150k
Thanks for the replies! The car came from California, however, the owner said the the battery is only warranted for 100,000 but she may not really know much about warranties. I'll double check with her. Also, I want to take the car to a mechanic to make sure the car is in good condition internally. Does Toyota do that? Do they have a diagnosis package for the Prius? or should I take it to a regular mechanic?
So I just checked the carfax and found out the battery of the car was replaced. Does that mean the big battery? the one that runs the car? 01/24/2011 87,446 Service Facility Northampton, MA Battery replaced
If you sign up with my toyota owners and enter the vin you'll find out. you might also be able to get that answer by calling toyota customer service. I found customer service real helpful when I called to find out about a prespective, now current, Prius. They told me everything about the car includding port installed options like cargo net.
Thanks. This is what it said: 1 01/24/2011 BATTERY REPL BATTERY REPL ~|~ ~|~ ~|~REPLACED BATTERY. NOTE TPM LIGHT FLASHING BEFORE ANS AFTER WORK DONE Parts CUST
Two things that concerned me with this car: the battery replacement at 87,000 miles, the fact that the owner reported that the battery had died when the car had 5,000 miles on it. Then toyota charged the battery and the car was fine in turns of the battery. The replacement was paid by the owner and not the warranty so that means the car does not have a warranty. Yet the woman is telling me that it does. So I think I am gonna walk away from this one.
