Just got the 2011 Prius III with Nav, it also equipped with XM radio. Actually, all I need for a radio is AM. I only listen to news and talk show, no music, no sports at all. So I have no intention to extend the XM subscription. My question: Will the Nav radio AM function still works when the 3 month SAT subscription expired. (just to have a peace of mind)
Since you just did it, were you able to get it for around $84 like some others did in the past? I'm not sure if such "negotiations", e.g., threatening to leave, still work. I will be extending after our trial period as well and would appreciate some tips.
Currently there is a free promo period, then $5/month for 5 months & some rate after that. I'll listen if it's free otherwise that is what the USB port is for.
Just checked it was $116.65 Best of siriusXM Howard...Everything, Online too! Don't ask me how I did it? Tell them you saw a post on PriusChat! Check out Coffee house channel 31 Mella! The online is mint,Works great with The Ipad! SiriusXM Radio
I did to, but I added XM TRAFFIC. I do alot of long distance driving and it saved me a few times from bad but avoidable traffic jams.
Go to the Cancellation Dept. and tell them that you would get a subscription but the regular price isn't worth it to you. Ask for any promotions and you should be offered a better price package such as the one mentioned.
I rarely listened during the initial trial period and told the sales person who called saying how fantastic it was that this was already installed in my car that I consider it a bug rather than a feature and would just as soon rip it out and save some weight. I now receive mail regularly offering me 12 months service for $77. I have an iPod classic with 11,000 songs and 4 CDs full of mp3s when I want to listen to music. I also have an iPhone with unlimited data and stream Internet radio over bluetooth. Add good local reception of NPR on FM and I really have no need for XM.
You can easily get the $77 deal, but it can still be quite painful. I'm on my 5th year now, and their highly trained customer service helper monkeys screw up my account every time. This last time, they managed to discontinue radio service, while my nav traffic still worked! Pretty amazing since they claim that that isn't a valid service configuration!
One thing I've read on here several times (though have no personal experience of) is that you should insist on paying by check rathe than using your credit/debit card so as to avoid being auto-renewed for a higher rate at the end of your negotiated contract period.
