I am in the market for the above mentioned Prius and this is what I am getting from Longo Toyota: MSRP: $27,859.00 Tax: $2,716.25 Title & License: $478.12 Total Out the Door: $31,053.37 I am still looking around but have not heard back from any other dealerships in the area. So, I just want to see if this is the best deal out there right now; my lease is up in a month so I don't have much more time. Thanks for any input.
I have heard someone as recently as this past week say they got it a "few hundred" under MSRP. Also why are they charging you $500 for the title? When you buy the car, you get the title. Take it to the DMV yourself and register it.
I would take a few hundred under MSRP; I would also like to know if anyoned paid MSRP, but also got some additional options like remote start, or wheel locks thrown in for free. As for the tax title and license, the out the door price they gave me was $31,053.37 so I just did the math myself.
Saturday, I got one from Toyota of Palo Alto, a three with Nav. MSRP 27,410; price agreed 27,260; out the door 30,109. Only problem was getting up there from San Diego to pick it up. Selection in the south was limited either limited; had a substantial premium tacked on; or had several thousand dollars of useless stuff added to the cars like lojack and a paint sealer called xzilon.
Hey Bentleye, Thanks for sharing your purchase information, from what I am getting from other dealers your information seems righ on point and even a few hundred less than what others are asking around LA County. Unfortunately Palo Alto is not close to me, otherwise I would take $27,260 and run. Although, in looking at the Prius Chat forum, I just found out about the Prius V, a longer Prius for 2012 which I am now considering, although from the article I understand it will be more expensive than the 3rd generation Prius, so I am a little stuck, any thoughts on the 2011 Prius versus the Prius V?
There should be a manufacturer's $500.00 rebate still in effect. Check inventory on sites like cars.com and edmunds.com by using the distance from your ZIP code feature. I purchased my IV from Toyota Santa Monica, did it all via Internet sales dept. Drove the 110 miles from north San Diego to Santa Monica, was worth it. Sales tax in CA is calculated based on the county where you register car/live, not where you purchase.
ncnunes, I didn't know about the v at the time, but I didn't want to wait and I don't really need the extra room. As to Palo Alto, you can get a 99 dollar one way airfare on Southwest to San Jose. They'll pick you up at the airport. In my case, my wife was keen to go up there anyway. So she flew up and picked it up and drove it back. I talked to a guy named Angel Rincon in the internet/fleet department. Very easy to deal with. He might have flexed more on the price too. oscarcat, sounds like you did better in Santa Monica than I did. For me, they tacked 1800 dollars onto the price of a three with NAV for lojack and sealant called xzilon. The salesmen insisted that the cars came with that and there was nothing that could be done about it except maybe let me have those things for 1500 or so. Ridiculous. A couple dealers in greater LA told me that they put a thousand dollar over MSRP premium on the Prius because of the supply shortage and the high demand. I didn't buy from those folks either, but at least they were honest and maybe I'd buy from them in the future. I'll avoid Toyota Santa Monica. But sounds like you had a better experience. I don't think there is any rebate on Prius right now. I could'nt find any, only premiums and scams.
They were tacking on a few thousand dollars here in Manhattan. I ended up going with a different dealer in queens. I paid sticker. If I could have waited I would have. Another question, did any of you buy the additional warranty on the vehicle? I got a 7/yr 100,000 warranty on all the parts that lose the warranty after 3 years. However I can cancel this after 30 days. Feel free to PM me. Thanks.
not sure if you're still asking the question a month later but i just picked up a package 3 with navi from crown toyota in ontario for $27,400. tax went down 1% this month. i got it on july 1, 2011. hope that helps. FYI, stay away from Claremont and Puente Hills Toyota. they have addons and charge the crap out of the msrp.
negotiating right now -- what did you pay for that 7yr/100kmi warranty? I've got them to $27,130 for the III with nav, but they are trying to get $2200 for the platinum 7/100 warrany. I told them it has to be $1500. crazy? Joe
