Has anyone tried to use a folding pet travel crate or tent in the hatch area. I have a medium dog and would like to find something she can lay down in that fits in the hatch. Any suggestions?

Our crate for our two Springer Spaniels is too large to fit in the hatchback. Instead, each dog has a harness that has a loop for the seat belt. Thus they are confined to the rear seat. We have waterproof seat covers on the way for the rear seats.

I bought a pet tube and a pop up tent, the tent is a little tall but since it is a flexiable frame it should fit in the back of the Prius. I have measured but dont have my Prius yet and went off the measurements my parents made on their Prius. They also have mesh tops so hopefully they will not entirely obscure the view out the back. My dog is about 35-40 pounds and about the build of a finnish spitz so he has long legs and he fits in the medium one well enough for a trip. The softside crate I have is a little to big for the Prius. The bag and tube are somewhat pricey I bought ones that turned out to be knockoffs from ebay but they seem to be good enough to suit my needs (only about $20 each). I figured if they didnt fit or if my dog didnt like them I wouldnt be upset. Nice part is they both fold up small enough to stow away and the pop up tent ( dog bag) folds up to about 10X10X2 so I can toss it in the under floor storage.

you can find these at http://www.dog-bag.co.uk/ but as mentioned if you dont mind a knock off they are realy cheap on Ebay.

edit: one other note the dog bag products are not sturdy enough to deal with a dog that likes to scratch or chew, I would not plan on leaving my dog for more than a few min alone in their products.

The folding crate I plan to fold and put behind the front seats while traveling and use it when I arrive at my destination but while driving I am going to use the dog bag or dog tube to keep my pooch calm and keep him from getting on my nerves.
