What is the recommended 30k maintenance? I'm living at Cupertino CA area and I bought my prius at New Mexico.
Did your car come with an owners manual and maintence guide? If not the only things that need to be done are Engine oil and oil filter, engine air filter, cabin air filter, rotate tires. This link's directions are not completely accurate. It leaves out Replacement of Cabin Air Filter, and makes unnecessary referrence to a manual transmission What ever happened to referencing the car's scheduled maintenance guide, that s/b in everyone's glovebox? G .
If you don't have both the owner's manual and the scheduled maintenance guide (they are separate documents) buy them, read them, follow their advice. They will save you a lot of trouble and expense.
The reason I'm asking is that recently when I power down my prius, I've been hearing weird noise beside the pump noise. I think the pump actually making a higher pitch that normal just once in a while. What happen if the pump is totally not working in one day?
Mine gets noisy when the weather turns cool. It has been like that for four winters. The noise goes away during the warmer months of the year.
'sounds like bad bearing on the coolant exchange pump, a known Prius weakness. I just had mine replaced under warranty. My dealer did his best to wiggle out of the job. You may have to insist that the thing DOES scream, even if you can't make it play for them. This is not a cheap fix. Do get them to do it while you have time.
