2006 Prius GURGLES after shut off ??

    As stated above, our 2006 Prius with 28,000 miles gurgles when we arrive to our destination & turn the motor off. It makes this sound for about one minute & then stops.
    Any suggestions what this might be & how to correct if needed ?

    It is normal, something about the coolant flowing.

    The hot coolant is saved into a thermo bottle so the next time you start it up cold, it'll reheat the engine with it.

    Thanks for the replies, but this is a relativity new sound like in the last year + & it is now consistent every time the motot is shut down ?

    When you say motor is shut down, do you mean the car turned off? If the car is on and the gas engine stopped, that's not normal.

    I mean when the motor has been turned off, & it did go off, the gurgling will syart & continue for about one minute.
    Then the motor area if totaly quiet.

    I've noticed this with both my 2004 and 2007 when the ambient temp is warm or hot. The sound is like the plumbing in a cheaply constructed apartment building when someone is taking a shower.

    I'm not sure this can be characterized as "normal" but at least you will know that your car is not the only one demonstrating this behavior.
