Hello, just got my first Prius. A gen 3 model 3. Whats with the windshield glare from the display at night? Any fixes, and does anybody know how to shut off the center overhead counsel light at night? Other than that its a great car.

There's a dimmer and night mode. Rotate the vertical roller switch, on the dashboard to the left of the steering wheel.

    Enjoy your new Prius.

As said above, use the dimmer switch (find it in the owner's manual). Black tape (thanks to Car Talk) will turn off the down light. Too bad they did not make it blue.

After you back it out of the "Click" position, it should gradually dim down to "out". If not, see your dealer.

if you leave the switch in the 'door' position, it will go out shortly after you exit the car. probably 30-90 seconds.

Welcome aboard and enjoy the ride. You could also us some chewed gum to block the shift LED. :)

Congrats on your new Prius and welcome to PriusChat:welcome:

My eye level is at a position where I've never noticed the display/windshield glare. In addition to adjusting the dash brightness switch, try adjusting your seat height and see if that reduces glare.

I think he was talking about the down light that illuminates the shifter while you are driving.

Thanks, I can try that, although I'm 6ft. 2in tall. The glare shows up on the windshield. The brightness I can adjust but even with it dimmed it's annoying having the reflection in your line of sight on the windshield.
