JDM / Japanese VIP Styling: My Prius III Build

So, they take the inserts off the door panels and remove the fabric, I learned yesterday.... Everyone else on the forum had been talking about gluing the leather TO the fabric on the door panels, but they actually removed the fabric. So, regarding the silver trim, did they REMOVE the silver trim from OFF OF the door handle parts and then put the leather on the parts after the silver was taken off? Or did you mean that they took off the door handle parts with the silver attached to them, and then glue/adhere the leather ONTO the silver?

I hope that wasn't confusing as heck. I just don't understand if you are saying that it is adhered to the silver, or to whatever is underneath the silver after the silver is removed from it....

 

Great to know! I will take a pic of your door inside (if that's okay with you) to the dealership, and show them that is CAN be done, and make them do it... They did good on the inserts, but I have to take it back for a few minor touch-ups. I had taken it later in the day, and when they got thru, it was closing time, so I told them I'd just run it back for a few minor details I wanted them to take care of for me. Thanks for your post, cause that answered a MAJOR question I've been struggling with. My main reason for wanting them done is that my little chihuahua used to love riding around with me from time to time....but I was just sure that his little claws would ruin the fabric and the silver. So, I got the inserts taken care of, but not the silver parts. So, now I can hopefully get them to go ahead and do it in the same fabric that they did the panels in... Thanks!!!!

 

Looks great Rodney. Will be ready to do all my stuff real soon. Seems everyone is liking the covering on the upper door handle. I knew it would look good. they certainly did a great job. Just can't wait to see mine done, plus the couple of other things. Seriously think I may do my speaker pods as well. Would look great. Can't wait for SEMA this year. gonna be a great time! It looks like there are three claws evenly spaced in the 12, 5 and 8 positions. If you go back to post 439 and the 19th photo you can see them.

Rodney, have you been to Japan (or Tokyo?) to see how many Priuses are on the roads? I think you all would be quite surprised to see exactly how many Priuses are on the roads here in Tokyo.

My trip to Japan in 2005 was one of my greatest experiences ever. There were Gen IIs everywhere. The other cars were awesome. Lexuses badged as Toyotas. Acuras badged as Hondas. It was crazy cool! Almost every car had a backup camera too and an aftermarket GPS. The trip was certainly one of my inspirations for buying a Toyota Prius.

Looks cool but it'd be even better if you had deep dish rims with lower offsets, possibly even larger in diameter. Those 5A rims look a little out of place on such a dumped car.

 

Damn... I think I want to sell the Eibachs that I just got in.

 

Ok Rodney. My turn. That looks amazing. How's the ride first and foremost. Hoping it's like cruising on a cloud of air. (No pun intended) I so wish I could have made it yesterday to the show. Looks amazing man. Any luck finding better hotel rates than I have for SEMA? Cannot wait!!

 

I'm really into this air suspension, pics from the installation (especially compressor or bottle) would have been nice too But somehow the rims do not look good anymore when lowered that much. Also the black bra kills the good look from the front. I'd bet a clear protection layer locks much better.
