Hi All, Just picked up a 2007 Base Prius and had the idea to replace the OEM headunit with and aftermarket in dash GPS unit. I read seawolf's excellent write up about the kenwood dnx6960. However, what other options are there? I checked crutchfield out and the selection is limited to a handful of undesirables. What other options are there? How can I determine which units will fit/work and which will not? Thanks!
Usbseawolf's unit is considered double DIN. This is an industry standard size so anything double DIN will fit using his installation write up.
Kenwood units have Garmin Nav. If you prefer TomTom Nav, get one of the Sony XNV head unit. Any double DIN unit should fit.
Thanks for the prompt replies =) Why does crutchfield bother to say that certain Double DIN units won't fit the Prius?
I didn't know they list ANY Double DIN unit that fits the Prius. Do you know of one that they list as a fit to Prius?
I stand corrected, the ones listed as "Fit" are fold outs. I would post the link but I don't have that privelege yet, need 5 or more post =P
Yea, their listing is not accurate. The same with Amazon automotive. DD unit fits and I have it installed for over a year.
