:)I was with some friends who had not seen my car yet with all the changes. Some joked, some liked it and asked about the cost and where i bought it like that. I explained that it was a process and each addition was done one at a time. They didnt get it. Is it me or isnt the creation as exciting and fun as seeing the finished product? The research, the questions, the other people. Isnt that what this forum is all about.

Are we talking about foreplay or do they expect us to actually drive these things?

So far only priuschat knows of what I have been up to. That said, I have gotten a few:
--"I didn't know the Prius came so sporty looking" (brother in law)
--"No way those wheels are stock" (other brother in law)
    --"Nice wheels" (work colleague)
--"Everything is so shiny, I never wash my car" (friend)
--"Is that an aftermarket bumper, I love your ride" (today, at the dealership, the service person taking my car)
I have to agree, had I driven the car off the lot looking like this I would feel so less involved than doing this; the research, budget, and priuschat.

Some of the things I have done, I like a lot and others not so much. Overall very satisfied with this hobby.

    Cheers!

Yeah, Rodney seems to be the same way. He can't stop!

However, I would caution all of you not to go overboard. You do have to stop somewhere or it'll look silly. Otherwise, move to a different project.

I feel ya on this! I didn't really get too many looks when my car was stock because here in LA, Prius' are a dime a dozen nowadays, but with the little bit of aesthetic mods, it's like being a lady with new implants, lol :biggrin1:. I mean it's still a Prius, but I'm trying to make some effort to make her look good, lol.

I'm finished modding mine. Mod bug hasn't hit in 1 month. All time record. Feels great.

I have to agree that process is half the fun. I've never modded a car before but everytime I add something to Mina it feels good. Although there are three Prius owners on my block we're the only ones with tinted windows and a few other pending mods. I gotta say that waiting for the toys to come in is the hard part.

Modding cars is like a disease. I can't think of one car I've owned that I didn't do something to in order to jazz it up a bit or perform better. Once I finished modding my first Miata, I found that (when I hung up my racing helmet) I didn't drive it much anymore. A big part of the joy in owning that car was always having a new project and the commoradarie shared with fellow enthusiasts both local and abroad. When I finally ran out of projects for it and found that I wasn't driving it very much anymore, I sold it. Been kicking myself ever since. Now I have a new Miata project car (10AE)as well as my Prius.

I'm not going to get too crazy with the Prius though...in fact, I'm probably pretty much done already. Window tint, reverse beepectomy, seatbelt beepectomy, Scangauge II, minor seat adjustments, and in the winter time I like to block the grill with beautiful foam tubing. At the end of the day, it's still a Prius...not a bad thing, just not something I'm willing to spend alot of money on trying to make it look "cool" or like something else. I've made it more functional/comfortable, so I think I'm good to go.

Agree. Love the process, love the complements! I'm a wedding photographer, and I get complements on it all the time! Last Saturday one of the groomsmen said " who's killer murdered out ride is that?". People in Cincinnati are really warming up to the Prius, especially with gas prices out of control, and people understand that not every hybrid driver isn't stuck up about the environment.

For my the process is 90% of the fun. Being a part of the image you have in your head come to life in the form of a car is what I think is the best part about modding cars.
