I want to see what you guys think:

A guy agreed to sell me his 2010 Prius V with advance tech package for $27,300. It has 22000 miles, and is silver. I haven't seen the car in person yet, but should be in great condition, no accidents. The car is in MT, and I live in VA. I can either fly there then drive it home, which will cost around an additional $700. Alternatively, I can have it shipped, which will cost me $1400. So the total will be $28,000 to $28,700.

Do you guys think it's a good deal?

It will cost $35,000 to buy a 2011 right now. You're saving $7,000 for 22k miles. Sounds like a good deal to me.

Have you checked the various websites (kbb.com, edmunds.com, nadaguides.com, etc.)? They provide private sale & dealer used car prices by zip code.

In my my zip code, KBB blue book for private party sale is something lkie $29,300.

The cost to ship is too high. My brother shipped a car from Houston to Boston for something like $600.

Yes, but the sites don't have exact package listed, so I am not sure if I am doing apple-to-apple comparison.

I live in Montana and have a silver 2010 Prius IV. I am not interested in buying this one or selling mine, just curious. I paid
    $28,000 for mine new.

Get a one way Southwest airlines ticket to Montana and drive it home. Bring your EZ-Pass along as it is good in Chicago and the other toll roads on your way home :)

Ok, I have decided to not to proceed with the purchase mainly due to the logistics to get it home. Driving 2200+ miles in 3 days (due to work constraints) gives me a chill in my spine, so I have to let it go. Also after researching on the budget trucking companies, the horror other people went through don't exactly give me the comfort level that I need. It is now up for grabs for whoever that's interested. The car is near Dillon, MT. You can contact Helen or Caly at [email protected].
