Remember, its like a mother with a baby, the car first keeps the battery happy "baby" and only then gives juice "or food" to the car "mother".
Caug1, This thread doesn't apply to your car, hence the confusion. The "arrows" on the display they're talking about went through the 2009 model year. Your car doesn't have the same display at all. "No arrows" would be the equivalent of gliding with the HSI barely showing anything at all on the left, or not all, versus "arrows", which would be using electric, shown on the HSI by going up to but not past the midway point. I would search for "pulse and glide Gen III" or something like that for more relevant info to your car.
