Hello, I live in Japan and I took possession of a new "S" model Prius in March. The problem is that I can't read Japanese well enough to get around the navigation system. I need a comprehensive English manual. Anyone have an idea where I might find such a manual? Thanks John
Your knowledge of Japanese grammar will undoubtedly help you as you attempt to read the Nav manual. It is well-known that this portion of the Prius manual is not a good translation to English.
I asked in another Forum whether there is anything to supplement the official manual for the Nav system. Nothing else on paper so far. I've been trying this week to make myself familiar with the Nav system (UK) but have had much difficulty, mainly because of the inadequacy of the official manual. It looks OK superficially but when you get down to step by step procedures you often find that the illustration in the book doesn't match what you've got on the screen. Also they use some words without explaining what that word means. There is no proper index or glossary. I'm persevering but would welcome correspondence from other users also trying to find their way in the system. One thing I discovered today is that a busy residential street in north London is not in the system. On the other hand I tried an obscure road in a small country town and it not only had the road listed but when I keyed the number of the house it put the marker in the right place! Missing from the manual is a telephone or email address which you can apply to for help, or a trouble-shooting guide. In my new Prius the DVD is Europe Version 2 (2004-2005) but I've only been trying UK so far. I see must of Ireland isn't covered so next I'm going to see if I can find an address in France. I wonder if Toyota will supply a 2006 revision next year?
