how many of you have gotten speeding tickets in your prius

Not me....

But this guy did...and apparently the judge was very curious as to how he managed to get a ticket...in a Prius. I lol'ed HARD!

Not me. I go at speed limit most of the time.

 

I lock the cruise at the speed limit. If i'm unsure or in a ferin location go slow 35 or 40 mph till i see a sign.

 

I think that driving a Prius allows you at least 10 mph addl speed compared to being in a regular vehicle if radar is not in use. Another example why it is the ultimate stealth mobile.

When living in southern CA I typically commuted at around 75 mph in the carpool lanes, and that was slow. (Speed limit is 65.)

 

I have. On one side of Greenville, US 82 is 65, on the other side it only goes up to 55. Oops. I honestly THOUGHT I was going the limit.

 

I was pulled over once and given a warning, but no ticket. Good thing I spotted him coming on a winding mountain road and slowed down just in time. It probably helped that we were obviously a family on a camping trip, and maybe that my cute daughter handed the nice young man the insurance papers out of the glovebox.

My wife's had a doozy of a ticket, though. She can never understand how I get away with it and she doesn't.

Me either. But when I was a tacker, I think I got my Dad out of a ticket: the whole family was in the car when Dad got pulled over. I'm looking out with eyes wide at the gun on the cop's belt, and finally I say: "Is that a REAL gun?" Cop cracked up and let my Dad off with a warning.

No speeding ticket for me, ever, even through Jordan Valley, OR (a notable speed trap). Came close there, though: patrolman u-turned behind me coming into town but he was after the guy in front of me. That was when I was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee. Never with the Prius (so far....)

 

I've got one -- 45 in a 30 -- but it was issued by an automated speed camera, so psychology didn't come into play.

I know that when I first started driving the Prius, I found myself going faster than I realized, sooner than I realized, partly I think because the noise was less than in my previous cars.

 

i hate to be the PITA person here... but... well.. actually.. i don't mind...

for all of those who haven't received a ticket.. you don't belong posting in a "who else got a ticket" forum... i know you're all bored.. but find another post (reading "not me" over and over really kills the urge to read this forum and post a response)... (the more this happens, the less i share my knowledge on this forum)

i've received several tickets in my 04 prius. it turns out the speedometer is dead accurate in this car (many others are off).... (ok.. it's off by 2mph.. around 95mph or so... not bad at all)

i've been caught doing 65 in a 35 and doing 70 in a 40.... the 70 was only a quarter mile after my initial acceleration.. so... that's about as fast as the car goes in a quarter mile stretch... ok.. maybe a little more... i was flooring it and he saw me coming.

one ticket was tossed because he was standing on the center isle (speed traps are illegal here in ca)

i've been pulled over several other times. i had the chief of the California highway patrol pull me over with a warning.. it was raining and i flew by him (he was in the slow lane).. i was doing 85... i saw him and cruised at 65.. he caught up (he was doing 50mph or so originally) and followed me for 2 miles.

 

not me. I got "saved" a couple of times on the motorway by the car infront off me, they got them instead of me. Once I was speeding and they had the gun at me, but they didn;t stop me (the speed limit on the motorway is 100km/h but everyone "knows" police usually won't stop you unless you're going over 120km. I have my cruise control set at 118km/h

 

One day I got pulled over for not having my headlights off (bc I was waiting to pick up my sister and I forgot to turn them back on) and when the officer asked for my licence and registration he noticed my radar detector in my car and thought it was the funniest thing in the world and called his partner in to look at it too and get a good laugh, poor car

 

All three tickets that I have ever recieved while driving the Prius took place during the 2010 calendar year. 1)February-70mph on a 60mph zone 2) June- 48 on a 40mph zone3) August- (clocked at 78mph on a 65mph zone)**Clocked at 78 because I slammed into the brakes when I saw the cop. I had the cruise control set at 90mph. Do you know how annoying it is to be in a deserted highway in west texas and the speed limit is 65mph.

 

Cobrakid, If you stop and read the title ot the post is is asking How many of you have gotten tickets. That opens it up to the ticketed and non ticketed. Had the tiitle stated who ELSE has gotten a ticket that would be asking a different question. Of course that's simply my opinion.
