Installed some HIDS on my '10 Prius

Get some night time roadway pics if can. I just installed a 55w 6000k kit from DDM Tuning. I think there is a bit more blue than I would like but I want to se e how your s turn out before I swap to the 5000k bulbs. I assume you got the 55w kit?

 

The digital slim panasonic ballast is not available in 55w. personally, i care more about reliability and ease of installation that i do about extreme light output. the 55 watt kit will run hotter and is german ballast and not rated to last as long as japanese digital kit. anyways, yeah i will get some before and after pics for yall.

 

I use DDM kits on my 07, 09, & 07 Tundra. 55w balasts 6000k bulbs. Don't know what the bulb # is for the 11. They light up the night. Well worth it if you are on the road at night or before sunrise often.

 

I feel for the price they make a decent product. I do find the 6000k to be a bit too blue so I'm going to switch bulbs on my headlights and fog lights once the Blazer fog light housings come in.

The 2010+ has it made when it comes to HIDs. You already have projectors!

 

i just put HID on my car 6000k, got it for about 100 bucks with everything... one of my friend knows a guy that sells em.. if anybody wants a set, this one is the one to get.. works everytime and w/ thin ballest

 

A lot of people purchase the DDM Tuning kits or the Morimoto kits from The Retro Fit Source (TRS). I have DDMs but just purchased new stuff from TRS and they were extremely helpful.

 

Which set of lights do you guys recommend for hid?

 

TheRetroFitSource (TRS) has great quality, I would recommend their 55 watt 5000k kit for h11, plus a wire harness (relay), its listed as

Nice. I've been reading some horrible things about DDM from the past couple months. I learned that aside from them stepping away from the HID business, they've been hit with several class action lawsuits for lying about bulb colors, they've stopped answering their phones, they've not delivered orders, and they drop ship from China. And all this as I'm trying to find a good HID conversion kit for my foglights.

Now, several people I know have used DDM HIDs in the past, but again - that was in the past. Now? I'm guessing if you ordered from them you might be okay. But really, I don't know, and I personally don't want to be the one to have to find out.

 

I'm going to do such a killer job on my Morimoto Mini D2S headlight retrofit that Macmasters is going to bite the bullet and buy a kit.

 

I just got a kit from ddm, and yes it was drop shipped from china. They are new slim ballasts, different from the old ones(little slimmer). Installed a few days ago, so far so good!

 

The ballasts are ok. It's the bulbs, that are not so good. The customer service and speed of delivery is lacking compared to TRS. But you get what you pay for.

Oh very cool. You should post pictures of your HIDs. DDMs reliability I'm sure is okay. But with so many vendors these days, its only common sense to explore other options. There's also eBay that sells Xentec HID conversion kits (made in USA) between $30-40. - eBay is very reliable with all their countermeasures against bad sellers and PayPal. Personally, the mod bug is subsiding so I don't care too too much at the moment. It's a good feeling!

 

Are the $30-40 ebay ones any good? The price is right but will they last and not kill the electrical, if so what bulb #?

The bulb # depends on what light you're using it on, foglight or headlight. I'm not familiar with 2010-2011 Prius bulbs, you can check out Sylvania's website. They list every bulb type on every car.

Depends on what you consider good. Some of the generic Chinese ballast work just fine although they tend to have higher voltage spikes when turning on compared to some of the more expensive units like Denso, Matsushita, Morimoto, etc.. This may prove problematic if you have small gauge factory wires and don't run a relay.

Aftermarket bulbs can vary in color despite being rated as the same Kelvin so you're 100% sure of what you are going to get.
