Oh, you missed a chance here. Do you like the lady or something (I mean, want to go out with her?) I would have casually mentioned I only fill up every other week, and that costs $30 at the most (with about 300 miles per week in driving.) You got to stick up for the team.
Take them for a ride in it. Just talk the car up, the basics. Gas prices are on the rise, so you'll have the last laugh. Tell them that the Prius doesn't make you gay. Just because you drive a Prius doesn't mean that the "gay" is going to come find you. It's a car, not an identity. I think your buddies need a little re-directing.
I have a friend who drives a big Chevy that gets @ 13 mpg. He drives 40 miles to work, and says he needs the truck because he pulls a big camper. Yeah- once to the campsite and once back. Two trips a year. I mentioned that I get a month of gas for what he pays in a week. He's beginning to see the light, especially now that they may not have the means to take the time to camp this year. I'm being kind and holding my tongue.
Who'se Jeff Dunham?? Actually...I haven't taken much grief while rolling my G3, and other than in this forum I haven't heard any comments about it being a "gay car" (whatever that is supposed to be...) and I live in the Gulf South. Probably not the #1 place in the country that homosexuals would prefer to live. I personally don't give other people a whole lot of rudder input as to what kind of car I choose to drive, which is one of the cooler things about being close to Fifty....
It's even cooler as you pass 60! OMG (I used that to prove how cool I am) I'm one of those 50 to 1000 year olds who shouldn't be driving a Prius!
If you think only girls are intelligent, then it's a girl's car. Personally, I think I'm also intelligent, because I own one. If you -really- need to compensate with a high horsepower car, my sympathies.
Jeff Dunham is comic with the pupets. He does a skit on the Pri.(his wife's vs his H1 hummer) LYAO funny. Let your friends know that I tracked my 11 at Watkins Glen and passed a Mustang owner. I also own 3 of them and one big Tundra. Use of the Tundra is down to one use a month. Pri(s) do 98% of our families driving needs. Tell/show OPEC that there hold over us will end soon.
I'm glad you had a good day at the track spanking the 'Stangs ...but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for OPEC's control over us to end anytime soon. That however is probably a different discussion, for a different thread, on a different forum. The OP is a pretty good gezample of why the US is going to be net importer of oil for a looooooong time to come.
I have kept my NRA life member hat in the back window for about five years. And I sort of like the idea of the truck nuts.
Went to a homecoming stadium pep ralley at the U.of F. about 20 years ago with my student son. The featured act was Sinbad, the comedian. The biggest laugh of the night was his description of the utter humiliation of driving "your Dad's old car!" My son had just gotten my 1981 Honda Prelude with 100,000 miles. It lasted until he graduated five years later. He's a executive now with money in the bank and a family. He buys cars with cash. He escaped the "sophomoric" college mistakes that the OP is contemplating.
