Hey everyone! I anticipate picking up my 2011 Prius 3 with nav and remote start Monday. I'm so excited. I'm coming out of a 2009 jeep grand cherokee that was costing me $75. Every 4 days in fuel. I loved my jeep but not worth the expense. So far I plan to just tint the windows a little and go with that. Can anyone give me a few tips and pointers? I look forward to making some new friends here and learning a lot about my New car.
Welcome and congratulations! Is the remote start a dealer option? My windows are tinted and I find that it makes a big difference in the Florida heat. I was lucky to get it free when the dealer was a day late in the delivery of my car. They did it to keep me happy.
It's cheaper to have the remote start installed at port, but the dealer can install it as well. It's also available here in the Priuschat shop but must be installed. Thanks folks. Yeah it came factory with remote start. I think it was $600 more for it but I think I'm gonna go chose Prius without it if it's $350. at the Prius chat shop. Thanks for the tip!
Welcome. I installed a sunroof, wood trim, side protection strip and weather-tech mats. Here are a few pictures: PriusChat Forums - liskipper's Album: 2010 Type V Mods And yes, there is a Long Island group, but it is apparently not very active: PriusChat Forums - Long Island Prius Owners Group, Org Good luck. What delaer did you get it from?
Welcome aboard! I'm from Long Island too and have been enjoyed the benefits of both the car and these boards for about a year now. Just wade your way through all major threads and your mileage will be through the roof before you know it.

Welcome. Don't forget to get a Clean Pass to drive in LIE HOV lane with just the driver. I cannot assume this is a common knowledge because I see Prii in the regular lane without the Clean Pass sticker.
LOL yeah I looked into the clean pass. I have to wait forrest registration to come in the mail before I call it says.
Got it from sunrise toyota in Oakdale. I wasn't crazy about huntingtons showroom and the sales manager at smithtown pissed me off. I'm trading in an 09 jeep grand Cherokee limited with a 3.7 v6 motor. He told me my truck was a larado modded out. I told him IDK where he got his info from but that year the v6 was an option for a motor. He said no it's a larado and I was left there trying to prove it's a limited. Like I would really do $8k in mods to make it a limited. New seats, floor liner, dash, painted front lower bumper, door and window trim, rain sensor wipers, etc. He had nothing to stand on then he ran the vin and found out it was a limited.
:welcome: Welcome to PC and congrats on your new Prius! There are a lot of information here on PC and scan through the several threads. Don't freak out at the beginning if the fuel consumption will not be what you expect. To answer several questions about the Prius in general and fuel consumption, you might want to read these 2 articles I wrote a while ago that PC users reviewed: Overall Prius review Tips for fuel consumption improvement
How do you like the sunroof? I'm going to be looking to get one installed also. Any issues with leaking or wind noise? Also who installed it and howmmuch was it if you don't mind me asking.
A coworker works with me in Brooklyn but lives out in LI. He bought his prius out there about 7 months ago but I do not know which dealership. He got a Prius III with dealer installed aftermarket sunroof, leather and heated seats. He was nervous at first, but to this day has had no complaints with any of the three.
I need that. I'd like a more pano roof but I'll take what I can get without taking out a mortgage for it. LOL
Best wishes with your new Prius. Looks like you will be busy checking out all the technology, high MPGs and low emissions.
