Just got demoted (repositioned):) at work. Lost my company car BMW X5 and was really feeling down...gave up on high priced cars because of the new old job and bought something practical. Now I look back on all the money I spent even before the company car and see the waste of hard earned money. Prius is not perfect for me...but I'm perfect for it. It slowed me down on the freeway, it taught me to relax...you will arrive at your destination...and you will have more money in your pocket when you get there. It's a fun car and the old job is getting better.

    Thanks guys!

Ps how can I add spell check?

True that... Sounds really familiar; I am a younger guy (30) and sold my Mercedes Benz R350 for a Prius... WOW, talk about going from the up house to the outhouse... But I am very happy about it ex. 18mpg to 55mpg... amazing. Learning how to drive patiently and relax...

Well, I too have changed. Not from the BMW or the MB but from a Tundra 5.7:D I enjoyed the power and versatility of the truck but, I was averaging 14-16mpg. I now enjoy the Prius' economical nature and I am glad that I purchased it(what I save in gas money pays for my wife's Prius). The bonus, both of my kids love the Prius over the Tundra.

Congratulations on the change. There is more to life than money and job status and is seems like you are better today because of the change.

Thank you for the kind words...it has been difficult. I now report to a person I hired 8 years ago...he's a good guy but I have to eat some crow now and again. But life is simpler now. I don't have to manage 25 adults that sometime act like kids. The house is payed for... Just a 298.00 Prius payment. One day at a time, guess I'm lucky to have a job...I always new they would put a young guy in my spot at half the pay.

I *have* to use IE at work (mutter....mutter...) but I use Firefox on my personal gear.

Sorry to hear about the demotion. If the G3 is your only payment, then you're in far better shape than many folks out there! ;) And....you could have been sent to the house.

I don't find my company car (a G3-II) to be that much of a sacrifice to drive but I usually don't drive upscale cars to begin with....

    Hang in there!
    Best of Luck!!!

Today I am thankful for the things I have...not the things I want or am going to get! Real Zen:) except for the fog lights:)

    Thanks again!

Welcome to Prius Chat from a Yooper refugee. I lived in Houghton and Calumet in the 60's as a elementary school student. My grandfather was a copper miner, and my mom went through school during the war years in Calumet.

I think performance cars are overrated. My HP dropped almost in half when we got our Prius and I hardly miss it. All that money wasted on gas is just sick.

    My feelings exactly.

One really fun aspect of having the ATP is DRCC. I can set it for 5 over the limit and camp out in the middle lane on a freeway. Just relax and enjoy the ride. If somebody in front of me slows up, I slow up too, no biggie. With 200 feet of open space in front of me, I get passed at high speeds on both sides. At first it bothered me, but now it's like being in a video game. What fun! And I never piss anybody off. They have plenty of room to maneuver on either side. The strange thing is how this style of driving develops drafters who will follow me for miles. I'm not sure if they even know they are doing it.

OP: another option for spell check is to add a Google tool bar to IE. It works on any forum just in case there isn't an "Advanced" button to replies.

BTW I went from a Cadillac STS to a Prius II so I understand your feelings. But the basic creature comforts are there - who needs power and memory seats!

I, for one, would really, really like to have power seats.
