Since my original thread is not quite clear enough. I decided to capture video of me installing a single DIN stereo "stealth style" in a local PC member's Prius. I'll be adding audio content over the video content and I want to make everything as clear as possible so that even a first time stereo installer can perform this upgrade. What I want from you is a list of questions that you would like answered in the video so that I can do this once and not have to do a bunch of edits after the video is created. For reference here is the original Thread. http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-ii-...alth-install-aftermarket-stereo-in-prius.html
Dash disassembly tips, I've done it a few times now and still it always feels like the vent panels are going to break before they pop out. Tidy cable management & routing. - D
The only questions I can think of are what's your address and when can you do mine? (kidding) Don covered my questions above if I were attempting this. This sounds like a great resource to have.
this was EXACTLY what i was thinking about doing. even got a spare... lower dash piece? so i wouldn't butcher mine. only thing is i'm installing a pioneer touchscreen navigation so i'm going to have to install it so the unit sits out a bit further (so the screen can tilt properly). my prius doesn't have nav/backup camera, but my NSX did, so i sold it without the system, and now the system needs to find it's way in to the prius. you should see all the boxes and wiring though, not sure how/where i'll put it all, under the passenger seat perhaps. any other good spots for hiding stuff? (aside from the left rear compartment, which holds spare diapers/baby clothes right now)
only difference as i read your other article is that i want both systems to co-exist. i want to retain the steering wheel controls, which i can only do if i use the stock headunit correct?
Sometimes trying to retro a system from another car can be a pain in the neck. If you successfully complete the project it would be great if you could do a write up thread. You can retain some of the factory steering wheel controls even with an aftermarket unit but you will need to purchase a module from a company like Peripheral. I couldn't sleep tonight so I am editing the video right now but I will need to record an audio track to go with it. If I get lucky I will have it done by the end of the week. We are still removing wallpaper, carpet, baseboards etc. in our new house and I work full time plus a board meeting on Thursday night then chemo on Firday. I'm kinda swamped but I'm working on it.
LOL, so what's the hold up? Sounds like you have plenty of spare time between bites of food. j/k Slow down and watch a sunrise or sunset. Work will still be there.
Sorry if i m disturbing you. please just tell me which harness do i need and how to connect, which wire connect which? without using resister. thanks alot
I 'mslammed with work and this new house so the video is on the backburner. I do have to reinstall my stereo next week though so I will take pictures and do a better write up and add it to the first page of my original thread. This should be very helpful For you.
Thanks, please help me to identify right wire harness to buy, so that whenever you upload pictures & instruction about connections, i may have my stuff ready. :high5:Thanks again in advance
