Car is 2011 Pck 2 with 650 miles. Brand new. 1 week old. Yes i drive a lot. Problem: Today, i pressed Auto down for window to get some fresh air. When i pressed all windows to go up, pass went up 1/4 way and goes down automatically. So i try again.. same.. goes up 1/4 way then goes down. I tried with pass side button. Same. THE ONLY way to bring it up all the way is to do it intermittent "pump" action of up, up, up, up, up like 2 inches at a time. I checked if anything was caught in the window... nothing.. Help please.
Try the guidance from Tideland in this thread: http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-ii-prius-main-forum/7912-dead-battery-auto-up-down-not-working.html Funny, he say's it's cut-and-paste from Owners Manual, but I'm not finding it. I resolved a similar problem with ours (we had a battery replaced at purchase), and I think that technique in the linked thread is what fixed it.
I would take it to the dealer, get it on the record, and let them solve it under warranty. Could be a weak battery, fluke or a more complicated electrical problem. Not a DIY situation.
This is Tideland's link about the power window not working: If the auxiliary battery is disconnected or run down, the power window may not operate automatically and the jam protection function will not function correctly after you reconnect, replace or recharge the auxiliary battery. In any of these cases, you should normalize the power window. To normalize the power window: 1. Push down the power window switch and lower the window halfway. 2. Pull up the switch until the window closes and hold the switch for a second. Make sure that the window opens and closes automatically. If the power window cannot be operated properly, have it checked by your Toyota dealer.
seems like I need to take this to the dealer... man.. i hate taking my car to the dealer.. Have to deal with BS.. It isnt from battery disconnection. I know about those since I have experienced in my Lexus.. Thanks for the help guys.
This happened to my 2010 after a few months. It was a quick re-set of controls by the dealer. Works fine ever since.
I wonder why that happens? im dynamatting my car right now.. only did the driver side.. happened before i even took it apart....
WHat BS from the dealer We had a problem with rear driver side window Would not stay up drove to the dealer, left car on , walked in, told the service write, service manger, comes out, goes gets laptop, all fix. I would been on the road in ten minutes if I did not stop to look at other cars
If the dealer fixed the problem with the laptop, then I guess it was a software-based problem. This must have been a system freeze, just like windows PC! If there's this much software on the car, where are the inventive hackers and jailbreakers giving us cool work arounds?
