I just tried to buy a 2011 Prius 5 with the Adv. Tech. package here in the San Francisco - San Jose area. I went to a dealer I like who used to service my MR2. They were unable to locate a car in the North CA region and showed me the computer screen which just had three 2010 cars all in the red color. They don't do trades with South CA region. Does anyone have any idea how many Prius 5's with Adv. Tech are coming into CA these days? Do I have to order it? Also, does anyone have the 4 digit code for a Prius 5 and the option code for the Advanced Technology Package? I should have written those down.
Check this thread out. http://priuschat.com/forums/showthread.php?t=90711 Good luck with your search the Five with ATP is one sweet ride.
This is how I found my white Prius V with adv tech pack in So Cal. I hit up google maps and searched ALL of Toyota dealers within 300 miles. I made spreadsheet of all the dealers sorted by distance from me. I went to each dealers website and searched on their online inventory. All the dealers with white/dark gray Prius V with adv tech pack in stock gets logged into my spread sheet. The next day I called all the dealers with such Prius in stock to check physical inventory. Some are sold, some are on its way, a couple are being driven by the general manager as demo cars. my next day off I drove to LA and to each of those dealers only to find that a lot of the salesmen had only looked in their computer and didn't do physical inventory check. I was about to give up and come home when I decide to hit up the last dealer on my list. They actually have it in stock. I looked at the sticker price and input all the packages/options into my PDA. The salesman ask if I wanted to work some numbers. I said sure. In the end I got mine at $144 over invoice. I think it's a great deal considering the car was made in June of 10 and I got it on July 7th and It only had a mile on ODO.
tildeleb, the Region orders the cars from Toyota & allocates them to their dealers. You can't order a car. You can also try one of the car buying programs, like AAA. The Five-AT is a tough car. Just keep searching through internet inventory if DW is too far away. Many times it is just timing that the car you want (or close to it) just arrived on the lot.
The V's with ATP are scare and becoming somewhat rare. To give you an idea, I found my black 2011 simply by part work/ part luck. At the time was only 1 of 2 available in the entire country configured this way. My advice place the order, scour the net and get to know as many fleet sales managers as possible. Good Luck
RED V package If you decide to get a red/charcoal V with just NAV... I have it ...and it's one of my cars on special, FYI!
At my two local dealers there are more Five-AT (3) than Four's but many Two's & Three's so you just have to keep looking & get lucky.
....from talking to my local dealer today; PRICE. Since they're not taking anything off sticker the 4s and 5s are too pricey. For what a friend paid a month ago for his 4/NAV, you might just get a 3 today..... Just one possible scenario. Dianne might be able to give us more info...
NJ, NY & CT are in the New York Region. I suspect the region orders a higher percentage of Fours & Fives based on higher incomes.
OMG that is SO not true. Regions get together, with a hand picked group that's from large dealerships and small, folks who know their stuff, and do the ordering based on demand. It has NOTHING to do with income of the geography or residents. As the years have gone by, the demand for the higher end Prius has risen because people have come out of higher end cars such as BMW and Benz to drop into Prius for many reasons: going green, the appearance of going green when one is really cutting the expenses, or fuel economy ... many reasons to downsize. They want their creature comforts w/o feeling like they are in a glorified Corolla with cloth seats, power windows, steering wheel, and no fun stuff. That is why you may see IVs and V's still sitting around. Because the II's and III's are freakin' FLYING off the lots faster than they can be replaced.
wow i guess i was lucky to get one, and i had to order/get it shipped from cali to texas! now even people in cali are having a hard time getting one (btw DianneWhitmire is awesome to work with, if you choose to go that route!)
I purchased my 2010 Blizzard White Prius V with AdvTech from Dianne last year... it has 16,000 miles and I am considering selling it since I purchased another car. Dianne knows how to get a hold of me. PS. Not sure about rules/regulations on selling used cars on this forum, if inappropriate, I'm happy to have this post deleted.
According to Build Your Toyota, there are several Vs with AT available in the Houston area. If anyone wants to pay me $34,000 for mine, though, please let me know! That would go a long way towards convincing me to get the Lexus CT 200h!
FWIW, this is one SWEET car - and he is meticulous with his cars. If you're trying to find that elusive ADV TECH V package, buy this one!
I was talking with the inventory guy at one of the largest dealers here in town last week. He said that the Denver region decided that based on demand last year, they would order almost all IIs this year in the region. Of course since they did that, demand has shot through the roof for Vs and you cant keep them on the lot. When I bought my car they had a couple Vs on the lot that had had birthdays already. lol
I just wanted to thank everyone for the advice. I finally got lucky and my dealer was able to work out a trade for a Five-AT and I drove it home today. It's a very nice car and I'm quite pleased with my choice.
