Hey there guys, long story short I managed run over a concrete divider seperating a parking lot. :D It sounded HORRIFIC from inside of the car. I was for sure the underside of the car was torn to shreds. However, I got out of the car and peeked under - and I didn't see that much damage. This is the only visible damage, under the front bumper. Should I ask Toyota to check it out? Thanks!

Are there any other spots I should check for damage?

Did you drive the whole car over it or just the front end?

Oops, NM, OP said front bumper... I thought that was the rear of the car.

If you only ran it over to the point I see scuffs in the pics, and not the whole length of the car which would be insane, I don't think this is too bad...

I may ask them to just take a peek at it next time I get an oil change, they would charge me if it was just to look at the car, I bet.
I drove the entire car over. The piece of concrete probably isn't what you think I'm talking about. It wasn't something like you'd see in a parking space. This was a slanted piece of concrete dividing two parts of a on/off ramp of a parking garage. So, it wasn't like a 90 degree angle of concrete.
Yeah, it's the front. I don't think much damage was done. It was basically like a really bad driveway that I could have gone in/out of. No fluid leaks, steering is fine, a few scrapes on the skid plate - but that's what that's for.

Here is a picture of what I ran over, it's slanted on the left and right sides - flat on the top.

It's the divider for the on/off ramp.

Wow, I thought it was one of these things...

Running one of them over front to back would suck.

If I ran over one of those completely, I would probably break down and cry. Knowing my car would be so messed up. I'm gonna conclude that only the skid plate got scraped up. If anything was wrong, I would have noticed it by now I believe.

Right i agree. Did you hear any noises from the middle/rear of the car scrapping? If it was only the front end i wouldn't worry.

I scraped on a driveway today, but it wasn't as bad as yours. I felt sick to my stomach - scraping a one month old car! I know how you felt! Well, look at it this way. We have our first dings out of the way, and ours don't show!

Newer cars are a lot lower in the front than they used to be...the front of my new Lexus is much lower than the old one. I've scuffed it a few times...even though you can't see it without looking under there, still a bummer!

I'm sure the car is fine...

I always scrape coming out of Sunnyvale Toyota, which is ironic when it happens after my inspection/oil change. If anyone knows that dealership, they'll know the 2 exits/driveways are notoriously bad.

Lulz, I think you're fine. The front end can take some abuse. As your pictures show, it's covered in plastic paneling pretty well. The middle and rear is where you can really damage things.

I did drive over one of these by accident. Sounded horrible, but no apparent damage even to the mudflaps.

Honestly, I don't think I did. It happened too quick for me to realize what we even happening. I just drove up, over and back down off of the thing. I don't see any damage besides the front of the car (under) and the middle and back seem spotless.
I don't believe I did, it happened too quick for me to tell. So, judging by the pictures - it was only the front, but I'll take a closer look tonight with a flashlight.
It is a heart and stomach wrenching feeling. I wanted to kick myself in the....
You're right about that. What's hidden hurts the most! Appreciate your input.
I'm not so worried about the front, because it looks like the skid plate did it's job - but I'm more worried about the middle. I just can't get my head under there good enough to see. I mean, if there are no problems thus far - I believe I'm in the clear. Thanks!
Same here, no damage to the mud flaps. I may have to take this thing off roading to see what it takes to really mess something up. A concrete divider vs. the car - seems like the car wins.. this time.

Oh wow, that's horrible! I wouldn't have done something like that. I'm mad at myself enough that I did this to my prised possession.

By the way: I just looked over the car again. There are no visible scuffs/scratches on anything on the underside of the car except the front skid plate. I think I'm in the clear, right? I'll keep my eye our for leaking fluids, anything out of the norm., etc etc.. That's all I can do right? Should I take it to Toyota and have them look it over? It could be an extra piece of mind, but an expensive one.

i think your good. as you said, keep an eye on it. i don't think there is anything important that low. didja ever start to hit something and keep on going instead of stopping, hoping it was going to end soon? i don't know why i do that!

Well, I guess it depends on what it is.. For this though, I was going like 6-10 miles an hour I'm guessing. I hit it and I was like . and just coasted over it and rode it out. Lasted like 2 seconds. Sometimes I think it's better to just go through with it than stop on top. Oh well, I've got my answer - I'll just keep a close eye on it. Hopefully everything is okay.

I can remember seeing a rear wheel car running over one of these. The car was moving forward, until the rear wheels reached the divider, that's when the car was lifted off of the ground....the driver had no idea why her car would not move......it was funny then watching the show...

She needed a tow truck to get off of this divider.

Had the Prius been rear wheel drive......it's my guess that you would of been stuck there as she was.
