Hello everyone, I have owned a new 2010 Prius IV since August of 2009. I have been reading this forum since I purched my prius. I had no idea when I purchased my Prius that the NAV package was a lot more than just a "Navigational Unit".
I bought my prius of the lot because it was the only one left & the "Cash for Clunkers" program was ending. It came with the Nav unit & I was pleasantly surprised. It controlls all of functions on a touch screen such as Radio stations, Bluetooth phone, Calendar, Play List on the CD player, Maintance Schedular, and most other functions thru the touch screen. It makes it a lot more enjoyable than just pushing buttons on the dash.
As far as mileage, I am getting anywhere from 47 to 60 depending on weather & temperature conditions.

    Thanks

Welcome. What took you so long to join :)

Yes, I had not planned to get a Nav but with C4C ending I was lucky to find the car that I wanted but it had Nav. I am really glad that I did. I really enjoy the Nav and all the features like you say.

Sounds like you have the hang for mpg.

Welcome to PriusChat. Though I don't have a nav unit, I have learned from PC, that the nav display can be used to do some minor service/maintenance default resets and changes. Have fun exploring PC.

We also got ours at the end of C4C, last one on the lot. As luck would have it, it was a Barcelona Red IV with Nav. Not a penny off sticker but we did good in the C4C program.

Yes, I think the NAV unit is well worth the extra cost. Since reading all of the comments over the last year about how you should just use a standard GPS instead of buying the nave package (I also own & use a GARMIN), if these people knew the capabilities of the Nav package, they might change thier minds.

As far as my 47 to 60 mpg, I average around 53. I get the 60 mpg when all of my driving during the week is takeing my wife to work (5 miles DOWN hill , BOTH ways).

yup, navi is more than just a navigation unit...it does all sorts of cool things. For me, the backup camera, USB connectivity, phonebook transfers, and speed dial capability are amazing!
