Just thought i should share the results of my first mod. I just bought the car brand new 1 week ago. First step was to ruff up the covers with some sand paper, then a couple coats of primer, sand again, couple coats of gloss black, then a few coats of clear gloss protective. Did not spend a ton of time perfecting everything because new wheels and tires will be coming soon. (last set of new rims and tires where for the Tahoe that i traded in for the Prius. Those were 24s and one rim/tire combo cost as much as a set for this car!) I like the look of the silver and black.
I used the Rust-Oleum brand primer, gloss black paint, and clear protective enamel. Sanding with 1000 grit paper. Also i really like the idea of covering the toyota logo with tape before painting.
Looks really good, but it's too bad those silver wheels peek out from behind the wheelcovers. Got any electrical tape ? Black on black looks awesome ! REV
I agree, I like the black on silver contrast... with the lugs too. I wonder what the colors would look like reversed?
Thanks everyone! Not sure about new rims but i do know the stock tires are very loud going down the road. I think they are yokohama avid... Also the windows are tinted but would like a darker tint to look better. Question on that though..most tint shops charge per window, the pri has those little windows in the corner. Do those count? Thanks
No they'll do those for free (included) with the back windows. If you think about it all cars have a divider between back windows (the part that doesn't roll down). The Prius' is just a little different looking since it's a separate triangle, but it's the same thing as other cars.
