Hi Guys- (and gals!) I finally decided to make a video which teaches almost all the Prius high-mileage driving techniques. Normally, new owners have to fish around and put this info together piece-by-piece from the forum and other postings. I hope this helps! Thanks You'all! Bob Nagy -Hot Springs
how did you transport a 2010 prius back to the 80s??!! j/k/ great video! i think maybe you should include environment on your MPG estimates as big city drivers have a much harder time even hitting 50 mpg, but overall really helpful for people just getting into it!
Thanks the the great video, no doubt that it is very useful for the hybrid novice to learn fuel efficient techniques. The only error I observed was the top EV speed. Your video states (on 3 occasions) 41 mph as the top speed for EV, but it is actually 45 mph. Also, good call not using any of the illegal methods like drafting ect...
Very nice video with good information, thank you very much for posting it. I especially appreciated the pics of where the bar should be for gliding and the expected fuel mileage at various cruising speeds. A couple of spelling errors that I noted (sorry, I'm in Quality) Cruising (instead of crusing or crusine) Mileage (instead of Milage)
Nice job, very smooth. Agreement on text proofreading! Coupla meta-questions/comments: . What's your editing suite? . I notice you're one of those "fist on top of the wheel" type drivers -- very common, I'll grant you, but do you find that to feel just a little unstable sometimes? . I think I would have gone with hard halftone boxes around text blocks instead of the big squishy white clouds, but that's just my aesthetics. . When you accelerate holding the HSI around the middle to upper range of the "fat bar" part, instead of going into PWR range, what are your observed results over the same or similar terrain? . I noticed while watching that the audio began to lag way behind the video, but that might just be my player's fault [Perian running under quicktime, on a downloaded copy of the .flv]. If you've got a more standard-format file [mpeg?] and a place to host it, that might be a better alternative to youtube... . _H*
Great video. I have 10,000 plus miles on my G3, and I learned something about braking. We all appreciate your work.
Not sorry to bump this nearly year old thread. It's one of the best videos I've seen. A lot of the new 2011 owners can benefit from this. Very well done.
Definitely. I think I was hurting myself trying to pulse and glide around here, it's just not possible with the hills but now I will focus on maintaining low in the ICE zone and gliding down the hills as much as possible. Also interested in the heat idea...however I have found that our car will fog windows quick if defrost isn't on almost always, especially cold and rain.
Anyone know of a video like this for the Gen II, or 2008 model? Super awesome video, but my display is completely different on the 2008 . . . Please send me/post a link if you know of something for the 2008 Thanks in advance!!
Thanks for the video and thanks for the bump. I joined PriusChat after the initial posting, so I missed the video. Maybe this needs to be bumped every 6 months or so.
Does anyone know of a video like this for a 2005 prius? I would greatly appreciate it. I just recently acquired this vehicle, so I'm a newbie driver.
:high5: I always wanted to know how to pulse and glide. I currently get 57 on my 2011. NOW I hope I can break the 60 mpg number! thanks again for a great video!!!
