The current (and immediately prior) generation Prius has 168 NiMH battery cells in series, at a nominal 201.6 V. Earlier generations were also in series, but had more cells, and thus a higher voltage.

thank boys and do you happen to know something about arrangement of cells in a battery pack in Prius 4? I listen that there is 3 battery pack working in tandem using li-ion chemistry, but that is all. I need little more information about that.

Prius 4? Are you talking about the PHV Prius demonstrators? If so, there's a whole area at Toyota Prius PHV Plug-In - PriusChat Forums for discussing that.

I don't recall if Toyota's released many technical details to the public. Some folks on Priuschat were allowed to drive them very early on and some of the info was given to them under NDA. Yes, we know about the 3 packs and all.

I stumbled across http://www.toyota.com/upcoming-vehicles/prius-plug-in/technology.html, but there's not that much detail there by Googling for site:toyota.com prius phv packs. I also stumbled upon http://www.toyota.com/esq/articles/2010/Toyotas_First_Production_Lithium_Ion_Drive_Battery.html.
